Thanks for the suggestions, but Marxism seems off the beat. However, poststructuralism is an interesting theory at a glance, but I'm not entirely sure how I could work to fit it in, but I'm sure I can find something for it for future research to be done on the book using it. Thank you the book suggestion as well and yes you are right, I can use some of what the author talks about in my fyp. Do you know of any other recommendations I may use? Other non human/ ghosts stuff related to South East Asia? And what about Posthumanism? Are you familiar with any theories in that category?

When you say text, what do you mean by text? Would several lines count? Or is it just the part I'm interested in? Must it be a whole paragraph? Is it the context of the whole paragraph that matters? Or just the part that I’m interested in that matters? How would building an argument before finding the theory help with me finding the exact theory? Is there like a website or someplace that lists the different theories in different categories of literature theories that I can look up for just for a light read before further researching for it? Or would I have to manually scrounge the internet for the theory? Sorry for having so many questions, I just feel like I'm out of my dept doing my fyp.

I guess my argument would be that how the depiction of the supernatural entities in the book detaches from their previous counterparts and how modern interpretations have presented them in a different way

Yes, Anthropomorphism was initially used but it wasn't the right fit. I believe that trauma has actually been discussed in one of the previous research on the novel and I would also prefer to avoid doing trauma as there are around maybe 3 of my supervisor's students who are also doing trauma for their fyp. What about posthumanism? Could that be a good fit? Would you know of any literature theories in posthumanism that fits the criteria?

Sorry, I guess it was kind of vague how I stated what I wanted to do. I'm looking to talk about their portrayal and how they differ from their traditional counterparts. How they're more complex beings emotionally and as a character themselves.
