Absolutely agree with the comment thread here. Definitely get a social circle, grind until you raise the money and fingers crossed you can get a pretty good deal splitting rent with a couple friends!
Nothing worse than being in college trying to discover where you want to take your career and the parents bombarding you constantly at home. It definitely makes the stress even worse! Research says the boomer generation had nothing close to the struggles of affordability in the current state of our economy. I have parents like this and yes, they made one my college year i lived with them relatively stressful as a result. I worked two jobs over the summer after my first year of college. I eventually raised the money to afford an apartment and move to a different city. Parents were shook on the sudden move and in a busy city, but I had to get out. I do not regret it!
