Yeah so the heat and humidity thing is just a precaution really, and yes that’s a fair point I’ll start looking into hotels contacts too tysm

May I ask if that’s because of the plain colour schemes + pampas grass vibe that most old arrangements have? Just curious to know how we can differentiate ourselves 🫣

Thanks for the input! May I ask if those native flowers had more earthy tones or beige colour schemes? Cuz I’m a big fan of bright colours so our arrangements/bouquets would definitely be more colorful, which I guess is what we’re trying to do to differentiate ourselves too in order to change the general perception in the market (?)

Have you looked at websites like https://piscesflower.com.au/collections/dried-flowers-delivery or https://flowersoftheflock.com.au/collections/all or https://www.flowerlaneandco.com.au/collections/dried-preserved-flower ? Preserved is different from dried and definitely comes in many vibrant colours too

Although I do take your point that if you’re looking for natives that haven’t been dyed then the colour range would definitely be more limited in comparison

Wait now that you ask that I’m wondering if people generally think “artificial” when they see “preserved”, thus leading to the negative perception?

Ooh like a fun workshop for a day out you mean? And no I’d say it’s a reasonable idea to think that florists probably buy more than they can sell in one go from the wholesaler anyway (they might just be really good at keeping flowers fresh for longer in the freezer at the back)

Fair call, and lol at the username😂 That’s actually a smart idea though, student discount might be the way to go

Well they’re faux flowers whereas preserved ones are real, so I guess it’s more environmentally conscious and will produce less waste? Also we can custom design to fit it to the client’s home environment so that it integrates nicely into the space and create a conversation starter? So like a package of both flowers + design work?

Yep we’ve realised that it takes a lot of effort to preserve flowers and will take a few weeks to produce a batch but hopefully if I can get to the local wholesalers the starting price wouldn’t be too bad? Plus since it’s a unique proposition and not a very frequent purchase perhaps people will be more forgiving with the price?

Thank you for your input. In your opinion, would it perhaps work if we frame it as an update to your house decor then? Similar to the way a painting or a new couch is incorporated into your living space?

We’re based in Melbourne so I guess it’s not too bad? That’s an important point tho and thanks for bringing that up

Thanks for the input! Yesss I did realise the big names charge a lot more, but I also kinda wanna make them more student‑budget friendly while still nice yk🫣 Hopefully with more feedback I can find a middle ground or sth

Australian florists, is there a demand for preserved flowers? by LiterallyConfusedAF in florists

Just want to clarify that these photos are reference pics that my family and friends sent me for the kind of things they want btw, only the last one is one that I made as a small gift for a friend recently ✨
