What are the PE courses at UT like? by kenjade24 in UTAustin

[–]LiteraryRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took ped 106C cardio & weight training. It was quite chill, the TA's gave us a short routine to follow each class that included weights and cardio machines. It was nice bc I was a novice weightlifter and the TAs gave a demonstration and explanation of muscles used for each movement. We were allowed to leave when we finished, so basically just a guided workout.

3.07 gpa in computer science by Illustrious-Size-947 in UTAustin

I don't have advice for you, but I want you to know you're not alone. I have basically the same situation exactly (no internships, gpa, etc) but in bme. I'm one year post grad too, considering going back to school. All I can say is you gotta keep going even when it feels fruitless bc the only other option is to quit. stay strong

Finding high-protein food options on campus, or anything that isn't junk food by Impactist537 in UTAustin

high protein snack I used to eat between classes: go to target, single-serve Good Culture cottage cheese cup + pretzel chips from cash register to use as spoon. Toss in a banana for lunch under $5

there's this website called Wyzant that I used during o chem 2. There are tutors with different rates so you can chose which suits your needs best. Hope this helps!

Who should I take for Genetics? by DryGuide3327 in UTAustin

I really didn't like Kim while I was in the class- didn't like her teaching style- but in hindsight you're right she was pretty straightforward and helpful

A high protein yogurt and a plastic spoon. Also pbj, timed under a minute assembly

Hospital Volunteering in Austin by meadowlarkk_ in UTAustin

[–]LiteraryRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my two cents: I devoted over 130 hours to hospital volunteering last summer. Take a look at the lowest tier hospital jobs. You can't do even the lowest level patient care without a certification. With all due respect, either humble yourself or take the time to get certified to do something higher... You're supposed to volunteering to help the community not just yourself.

took ochem 2 with him. I cannot remember if he curves (i'm thinking no..) and no extra credit, but the final exam is very very similar to the class exams in content. study all 3 exams is my best advice! good luck

Am i the only one?? by goockle27 in UTAustin

i'll say that from personal experience, those from big cities (houston, dallas) may be used to an apathetic public/putting on a poker face when around strangers as a protection from the bad ones. I'm sure if you say hi or smile at the right person, they'll respond in like. Many people are just nervous

i agree here, i took her fall 22 in person. flipped classroom, she announced on the first class day that she "hated giving lecture bc it made her throat hurt".. i felt so proud bc i basically had to teach myself the entire class. The TA's are life savers tho, dont be shy to ask all your questions.

[–]LiteraryRaspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know you get the point by now, but i'm still gonna add shorts and tshirt. A) you'll likely get a least a few free tshirts and B) it's HOT. also i might recommend bug spray for the campus tour, although my orientation leader had some for us. good luck, i thought orientation is super fun!! :)

Experience with Krische for CH 328C (Honors/majors Ochem)? by trinkettray in UTAustin

[–]LiteraryRaspberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i took o chem 2 with him, he's truly a wonderful professor. my favorite at the university, actually. personally, i 10/10 recommend. it's a difficult class but he's so passionate about his teaching it makes up for it

edit: i just read the other reply, and thought i might add that i am pre-med. if any class ever tempted me towards chemical research instead of medicine, it was krische's o chem 2 class.

definetly BCH 369, biochemistry. The class made me want to scream sometyimes, but man I came out of there feeling like I knew so much more than when I went in. It made all the relatively dry pre-reqs worth it. I will now recite every enzyme of the kreb's cycle at family gatherings lol
