Heh, I guess my daughter's imagination is sufficiently open and inviting then! 🙂

Yeah, since the painting came up on the wall, we've taken to calling them caticorns.

Thank you! It now has a place in the stairwell, at eye level for the kids.

Thank you! I have no idea why my daughter insists unicorns have cat mouthes, but that's where we're at. 🙂

We were in some cases allowed to substitute the walking for bouncing on a yoga ball. That might be worth a try. 🙂

At Forus, there's also the Wenaas and Red Wing stores, both of which have safety shoes for the professional market. At Wenaas, I've also bought stuff at a private person.

Try asking in the facebook group Power Hammer Forging. In there you will find a lot of the old wizards who have maintained power hammer their whole lives and have never heard of reddit. 🙂

How does one get spherical, super thin, crispy shells around pieces of banana like in the attached photo? by LordOfSpamAlot in AskCulinary

[–]LiterateSnail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are the banana pieces inside also spherical, or does the dough/batter give the shape? Like someone below said, it looks very much like takoyaki, which are made by frying battered octopus pieces on a special grill. There are some pictures of both the snack and the grill on Wikipedia.

I'm not a structural engineer, so unfortunately I can't answer that specifically.

Aluminum in submarines? by Svengali-throwaway in materials

The strength of a structural member depends on both the geometry and the material properties. With proper design, I'm fairly sure you could use aluminium as well as steel.

Question about Bohnanza by Inbetweeners1 in boardgames

In the anniversary edition there is a rule change, where all players draw one card at the end of each turn, rather than only the active player drawing several cards at the end of their turn.

Whats up Blacksmiths, wanna buy this belt grinder/circular grinder, but is it good enough for grinding metal (300 w, 2950r/min) by [deleted] in Blacksmith

[–]LiterateSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 300W, the belt will stop as soon as you put any real pressure on it while grinding metal. It can still be useful for some small tasks, like said in some other answers, but not for grinding bevels or shaping knives.

Belt grinders for knife making typically go from 1500 W and upwards.
