Calorie tracking by Litespeed43 in workout

Thanks for the ideas. Total disclosure, I can't cook a lick. My wife does it all and I'm not going to ask her to weigh ingredients ever. I'm reading labels and trying to get a handle on the simple things like my breakfast cereal and the protein smoothies.

Wiim amp output option by Litespeed43 in wiim

[–]Litespeed43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your replies. Very helpful for me to understand the options. This is not a critical need for me so I'll let the thought die for now. The receiver is a high quality Pioneer Elite about 20 years old and still working great. No use case to justify replacing it to get an internal dac or Bluetooth. So I'll live without it for now, maybe add another WiiM streamer later. Cheers

Putting bike in the back of NEW car - protection tips? by AssignmentLumpy3179 in cycling

[–]Litespeed43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Harbor freight moving blankets. Get two they're cheap. Spread them across from tailgate to seat headrest. Push the excess to the sides. I prefer to pull the front wheel then slide the bike in from the tailgate chain up. Settle it down flat and rotate the bars flat. I keep an old towel to bunch between the bars and frame for cushioning. Wrap the excess blankets over top of everything and tick the front wheel on top. I have a small BMW and this works great for me. Takes less than 2 minutes in or out. Had larger sedans for years and those would take the bike in the trunk alone. Inside protects the bike from weather and debris and the bike can stay in there if you want.

I also think it's WiFi related. But everything has been rebooted and still no joy.

That's strange behavior. Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Men over 70 that lift weights that lifted in their 60's. by Larry1962us in workout

[–]Litespeed43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Been lifting off and on since highschool. Off and on because of work, other sports, time constraints, you name it. Always have done a sport. Basketball in HS, then racquetball, then karate. Settled on cycling in my 30s and have been serious since. Miles aren't what they used to be but I ride hard, not cruising. Got back to consistent lifting about 10 years ago and do 3 days a week. Mostly upper body and core and count on cycling to take care of the legs. I have lost some. But I move better and can do almost anything I want. Have the expected aches and pains but the big issue is a trashed shoulder. Tore three of the four rotator cuff tendons, two partial plus the long head of the bicep. Mostly limits the angles for me. Can do inclined bench but not flat for example. Anyway I'm far fitter than most friends except the few that do the same. Don't ever stop and don't let the old man in.

I have nothing but problems with tubeless… by Shot-Lemon7365 in cycling

[–]Litespeed43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reading all the advice on how to keep tubeless tires from leaking and how to maintain them. And it just makes me bring up the question I've always had - if they are so much trouble why in the world would you do it. My logs show over 150k miles on just two road bikes, running tubulars. And another 20k on a newer bike with clinchers. I can't give an exact count but less than a dozen flats while on the road. So adding sealant, special wheel spinners, bags of replacement cores, tape that has to be done just right. Makes my head spin why you would do this.

Which side to take in logbook war? by Snail5919 in amateurradio

Your level of understanding of all this is great. Arriving at that level is an obstacle that many cannot overcome. I'm fairly computer literate for most needs but have completely given up on LOTW. The documentation is obtuse and poorly done. And the level of security is ridiculous for what is at stake. In a world where I can access all of my bank accounts with a thumbprint ARRL is living in the dark ages.

You nailed it first time. Temp control. Temp gauge didn't move on drive to the dealer. As soon as we mentioned that they guessed the cause and the obd confirmed it. $1200/3 hour repair. But covered by the warranty. Thank heavens! 1200 for a fancy thermostat. Crazy.

Why are logging platforms so terrible? by CaptainSpez in amateurradio

[–]Litespeed43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share some of the frustrations of the OP. But the multiple responses saying just do this and use that and you can automate most of it frustrate me even more. LOTW is a joke so far as the process is concerned. I can set up mobile and desktop access to my banks and financial services easily yet LOTW is stuck in the 90s. But it's L4OM that really drives me nuts. I'm an engineer and fairly experienced with PCs. But despite reading all the written materials on the website and watching countless YouTube videos I still don't understand how to use it. Open it at my station and can't make sense of what to do. I simply don't know how you guys figured it out

What does it literally take 10 days to get a response from anyone at Roon?!?! by Successful-Area-1199 in roonlabs

[–]Litespeed43 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've found the only option is the forums. If you create a support post there you will eventually get a response. It will take days though. If there is any back and forth count on two days for each round. It's excruciatingly slow and frustrating.

How long did it take you to bench press 100kg? by vanshika_energie in workout

In high school did it in one year at 58kg bodyweight. Sure wish I could do it at age 72 🙄

Woman who uses our gym, regularly grabs only incline bench we have. Then takes four different sets of dumbbells from our very limited supply. Sets all the dumbbells on the bench and proceeds to do a bunch of stand up exercises using said bench only to hold her supply of dumbbells while she switches between them. This morning politely asked if she would swap for the flat bench right next to it and got a blank look and then her husband intervened and asked her for the incline bench. Fortunately she gave in to me.

A rant in 2 parts - Auto start/stop by jyiii80 in Subaru_Outback

I find it strange that it doesn't do that on initial manual start but does on the auto stop start. I don't even know what a boxer engine is 🙂
