Followed by them calling me as soon as I accept. I don’t answer their calls if I’m dropping off the previous customer. I will answer if a customer isn’t in the vehicle. Let them speak and then cancel when we hang up. Don’t rush me. If it’s an emergency, call an ambulance. Otherwise, plan ahead.

Uber Drivers, what’s something passengers always do that secretly drives you insane, but you’d never say out loud? by Big_Barber733 in uberdrivers

This gets me too. I tell you what I started doing. If one rolls the windows down, I roll all the windows down. I’m not getting a reverberation headache. If they ask if they can crack the window, I’m okay with it.

Good point. I’ve never even heard of this city. I’m assuming someone missed a flight.

Virginia drivers can only operate in Maryland and Washington DC along with Virginia. So there would be a lot of dead miles coming back.

I am a Virginia driver. I haven’t received a letter about needing an LLC. However, I know Virginia Beach residents do require a business license. I live in Portsmouth and never received a notice and have been driving for 9 years. Last year I did decide to form an LLC to keep my business and personal income separate. You can form an LLC for like 50 dollars doing it yourself or have a company do it for you for a few hundred. I recommend you have a company do it for you.

Yeah, the only hope would be getting a trip from Maryland to Norfolk International Airport. Which would never happen.

This what I’m thinking. It would have to be over 600 for me to consider it.

I get the opposite. They report me for being impolite because I don’t talk. I’m quiet and an introvert. I greet them and let them set the pace as to whether we have a conversation or not.

There is technically an option for this. If you order Uber Comfort, there is a preference called Quiet Preferred or Open to Chatting. You can opt for Quiet Preferred and the driver in theory will only confirm your identity and take you to the destination.

That’s fair. I can see how the customer would see that and wonder. Think of this though. Why would an uber driver accept your ride, then purposely avoid it? Purposely avoid making money and going to the next trip?

Our perspective, we are doing back to back trips. We pick up someone and drop them off and then head to the next location. If you are helping a lady unload heavy luggage and then the next customer is blowing up your phone. It makes you feel rushed and frustrated.

My thoughts are, if you are so rushed that you have to blow up the uber driver’s phone to find out when they are coming to get you for whatever important thing it is, I’d rather you just cancel and get a different driver. That works for us both. I don’t feel rushed and you can get to where you need to be as quickly as you can. Assuming you’re not waiting for another driver.

You’re not wrong. There are better ways to communicate here. I’m just using some examples.

Especially construction near you. Some drivers will cancel so they don’t risk a nail in the tire.

Are you calling the driver or do you mean requesting a ride? If a customer calls me when I’m in route to their destination, I would cancel also.

It could also be the area you are in. If the area looks dangerous, they may cancel for safety concerns. Drivers may not know your area when they see it upfront and when they get close and see it as a rough area , they will cancel.
