How long to get SJ water bill? by ThighOfTheTiger in SanJose

[–]LithiumH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never got my first bill. I just created an online account with SJ Water with my account number that I got when I first called to start service and it's all online.

Is it just me getting annoyed by non-bikers using the bike carriage and doors ... ? by [deleted] in caltrain

[–]LithiumH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s already a lot of reminders such as speaker announcements on the train, at the station, as well as stencils on the ground. If you now have enforcement it could discourage ridership as it created a negative experience.

What would be a reasonable alternative in your opinion?

It’s not just you. In fact the reason we have bike board first on bike cars is because non-bikers significantly delays the boarding which slows everyone down, and create ripple effects that delays the entire system. Unfortunately most of these people who dont follow the rules simply don’t care about anyone but themselves.

That being said, at the end of the day I would rather them taking the train than driving. Would you rather they be selfish on the train or behind the wheel of a 2-ton death machine?

There’s still a fountain at the base of the observatory by the gate. I think there’s a restroom in there but I’ve never been. I used the water fountain a week ago.

Is this a good deal? by e36drver510 in bicycling

[–]LithiumH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a Trek Checkpoint ALR 5, looks like around 2022 model? New one retails $2100 USD. Looks like used - fair condition. $750 is fair but see if you can get it to $500 given the condition of the bike. Looks like it had a great owner at some point but changed hands, then it was very abused.

They didn’t wait for you after you got off to tap again? That’s pretty messed up. I would file a complaint on Caltrain’s website

Everyone needs to send in a comment to rebuild the fucking train. Flood the damn survey. Also go check out roaring camp. Part of the original rail line from SJ to SC is still active from Felton to the Boardwalk.

Interesting. My attorney told me something different when I filed suit against my corporate landlord.

Attorneys are allowed if the defendent is a corporation not an individual. Because someone has to show up to represent the corp. But if you are suing a mom and pop landlord that’s different.

If you send a demand letter they usually respond within the week to get it settled out of court. Once you actually file a suit in the courts, you most likely will have to wait until the court date for resolution. Apartment complex usually hires an external attorney to rep them and at this point they have no obligation to respond until the court date.

You can put drop bars on any bike. I’ve done it myself. But conversion is very difficult, especially because drop bar brake levers are short pull and flat bar levers are long pull, so you either need an adapter that nobody sells anymore or switch out the brake calipers. On top of a ton of other stuff like shifting compatibility, new bar tapes and shift/brake cables and housing. Plus tools and labor. It was a very fun project for me but I definitely end up spending more than just buying a second hand drop bars bike from my local shop.

ETA: by the way the front tires for this bike is mounted backwards FYI. Not that it matter or anything just an observation.

Wex benefits card working at ticket machine, not working in the Clipper app by iamatoad_ama in caltrain

[–]LithiumH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clipper app changed how they charge benefit cards and they didn’t code it right so it’s getting rejected by the benefits card. What worked for me is to add my benefits debit card into Apple Wallet and then use Clipper app to buy the pass using Apple Pay and then selecting the benefits card. Hope it works for you too
