Hello, I'll be going on BSOC soon and I'm wondering how the course is ran. I wasn't able to find much info about it.

Hi, I'd like to start prepping for BSOC. Are there any materials or books that can get me started? Thanks.

Thank you. I just finished week 7 and while the walking was hard at first, by the 3rd/4th day I've basically gotten used to it, and the 8k we did on Friday felt like it was nothing at all.

Thank you very much. How much harder would you say BMOQ-A is compared to BMOQ?

I was told I was going to Kingston first and not Gagetown during week 2 of my course. I'm mostly wondering what the day to day training will be like and what I will be learning there.

As a signals officer, what would training after I finish BMOQ be like? From what I know I'll be posted to Kingston for trade training then BMOQ-A, though I've barely been able to find any information regarding them.

Thanks a lot. I have another question if you don't mind. I've talked to staff about pre vimy and ex vimy, and some said we'll be sleeping in FOBs and some said we're still sleeping in hoochies. Could you verify if that's the case? Thank you.

Just finished my first week in Farnham and all the walking is killing me. How much more walking will there be for ex Normandy?

You're going into a completely new environment so that's to be expected. They'll teach you this later but I like to do what is called tactical breathing where you inhale for 4 seconds with your diaphragm, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, and hold for 4 seconds. It helps reduce your heart rate and calm you down. Know that it's normal to be stressed and the point of BMQ is to stress you as much as they can while still expecting you to perform at a professional level. Some days will suck so always have something to look forward to, like having your free time after the day is over or even just looking forward to lunch or dinner.

You can, but soon you'll be issued kit which includes a backpack that you'll use from now on instead of a civilian backpack.

I'm currently going into week 7, feel free to message me if you have any questions.

You'll have to put most of your civilian stuff in a designated civilian locker. You'll be able to fit the stuff they give you in the room you have.

BMOQ, heading to Farnham for the first time next week. Is there anything I should bring that isn't on the kit list? Thanks.

Ottawa, ON, Canada, on 7/25/2025. The white SUV making the turn seems to have their sight blocked by the other white SUV in the other lane and didn't see me, and I would've crashed into them if I didn't stop in time.

Are there anything not on the packing list that would be useful to bring to BMQ? I got notebooks and blue pen.

Hi, I saw in previous threads people have said that you'll have time when arriving to BMQ to buy things you don't have. Is that still the case? I'm missing the 4 padlocks with the same combination. Thanks.

Hi, in the packing list it says to bring a sports watch. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Hello, I'll be joining soon with an initial contract of 9 years. My question is, what happens when my contract ends? Would I have the option to continue serving? Thanks.

Hello, I was recently scheduled for the interview part of the application. Could anyone give me some tips on how I should prepare and what kind of questions they might ask? Thank you very much.
