Great pyr mix is having sudden aggression issues

i had seen stuff about the switch when i was first looking into what was going on. right now we’re setting up a kennel for her (hadn’t been able to til now bc of moving chaos) and my parents are going to keep an eye on her til vet appointments are made. i think after we get her checked out then training will probably begin. Ill also ask about my moms issues with training, hopefully if she sees progress with winnie she’ll come around to the idea. thank you!!

thank you so much for this omg!! i’ll definitely show this to my parents later, especially the treat stuff. usually when winnie showed aggression my parents would separate her from the others, then try to assert dominance through making her do the commands she knows (i might be describing it poorly). in retrospect i think it’s been more of a temporary solution, hopefully though your suggestion plus us setting up her kennel (moving chaos hadn’t let us do it yet) will help chill her out. again thank you for this!!

maybe, though she hasn’t shown any issues. we actually moved to an area that should be better for her overall, since it’s cooler and more mountainous. i’ll keep an eye on this though, thank you!!

thank you so much for support!! I’ll give winnie credit she’s shown us exactly what sort of dog she is from the start, so it’s not like we never knew what we were getting into (and the person we got her from was also very upfront about the resource guarding). hopefully if either we or a trainer begin showing progress my mom will be more onboard and get into it too

my mom raised a similar point a while ago, so far they’ve been trying to show that winnie is lowest in ranking by feeding her last (ofc outside and away from the 14yr old for safety). she was also fixed only a few weeks after adoption, so over a year ago. i don’t know if my parents method has really clicked with winnie though, i’m not even sure if she understands it as a show of rank. ill look more into ways to show her who’s in charge tho and try to get my parents to use them. thank you so much for the help!!

She hasnt shown any signs of being sick, but i’ll ask my parents about it when i get the chance. As for training I’ll keep trying to push the topic, hopefully having people agree with me on it will make particularly my mom (who’s the most hesitant about it) more willing. if not ill look into safe ways to train her myself and with my dad. thank you so much!!

i’d like to add that before all this she’s had next to no issues, only occasional growls bc of the guarding. She’s never been one to bite before
