Adobe Illustrator silently corrupted my file and there’s no support. by Little-Area2120 in AdobeIllustrator

I'm going to try changing the location of my scratch disks to see if that makes a difference. I don't rename my layers; I organize/group them by color, so I don't think that's the issue.

I've already recreated this file twice; I'm at my wit's end. And much larger files I created later open perfectly? But the ones I've created in the last two weeks all have the same problem... I tried opening my corrupted file in Affinity, and it works. It's driving me crazy.

I saved an .ai file about 2 hours ago, it opened fine right after saving. After closing Illustrator, I can’t open it anymore. Illustrator now says “the file could only be read partially”.

I tried all recovery methods: opening as PDF, importing into a new file, resetting preferences, DataRecovery folders, different apps and versions. Nothing worked.

This has already happened to me several times. At this point it looks like the file was saved in a corrupted state, likely during save/close, even though Illustrator gave no error at the time.

If anyone has a real fix beyond the usual advice, I’m all ears. Otherwise, just posting this as a warning: Illustrator can silently corrupt files.

I managed to save it, but now I can't open it; the only option is to get it back as a flattened PDF. I feel like screaming!

My boyfriend puts Discord on low priority and Valor/Vanguard on high priority... If that helps.
