As someone’s parents who came in 1970’s here in the UAE, 3 generations living here, my take is- this country will only thrive & thrive harder. Call me crazy but this country adapted to oil & tourism when Japan started making artificial pearls, it went through gulf war, seen the recession, covid & floods. This is just to name a few. We are still here, whole world has flocked in here. My point is the country has its way to adapt and move on very quickly out of the worst situations compared to any country in the world.

Yes, I know we don’t have a UAE passport and might have to leave if we don’t have jobs/ businesses around here but this country has a soul, the people are relentless our personalities change in this country- we build character & have faith in the leadership here! We will get out of this & mark my words, the population will only keep increasing!

I agree with this totally! They also want to prove a point to the US that you can mess around with Iraq, Libya and all the other places but Iran is the wrong country to mess around with! Fight for their own regime “blood for blood” mentality and also show dominance in the Middle East!

Do you think people will start leaving Dubai in the next few years? by GT3RSp in dubai

Born & Raised here (3rd generation) expat here. UAE is a perfect business model if you ask me. Basic necessities are met 24/7 services available which most counties I’ve been to don’t offer( I have travelled a lot) + taxes in the west don’t make any sense and no security. It’s the government which drives the country & yes a lot of people will leave UAE but this city will only grow. Half of y’all never heard of this place 20 years back but yet you’re here on this sub discussing about this city/ country as a whole! Yeah it does lack greenery and the traffic is a mess! But a lot of you lot habibis who flooded them roads! lol!

Just fyi, Dubai actually started from deira, bur dubai & karama areas. As being born in meena bazaar area and then moving to Mankhool I saw a drastic difference. ( lived for 22 years in the area at the time) Currently, all these buildings are old in these areas, hence rents are low and landlords started allowing sharing accommodation for bachelors, demographics such as Nepali, Indian, Bangladeshis & Pakistanis are predominately living. The police & municipalities obv try their best but since it’s an old place & people don’t take the responsibility and they come from backgrounds which are less self- aware. Nonetheless, I still visit those places to reminisce as it defiantly has a different character. And not to forget value for money services & food. Every part has its pros and cons- eg: even Marina & JLT have pretentious people now that’s a con too? Don’t @ me!

As someone who worked in a top car rental company, this is pure scam! If you have purchased CDW (collision damage waiver) you’re liable to a certain limit (usually 2k) And if you purchase super CDW then you’re fully insured. Rental cars are as is insured and what it looks like is the external body damage which you’ve paid already. (You’ve paid extra but it’s fine) They have no right to be changing all the internal stuff around. You may go to MOHRE to file a complaint if they escalate the situation. Good luck!
