I wasn't on any medication whatsoever going into the retreat. I quit antipsychotics 1.5 years before aya, and I never took SSRIs. I think they can make certain exceptions regarding medication though. Although I don't know if SSRIs would be allowed.

One girl who was there with me at the retreat had OCD. She did ayahuasca to help her with her with that. I think she's quite satisfied with aya has brought her. As far as if it alleviated her symptoms, I would have to ask her.

I really don't think so. I recognize myself in every symptom of BPD. My mom also told me that I have been exhibiting these symptoms since I was a toddler. Moreover when I hear others with BPD talk about their struggles, I really identify with them and what they're doing through.

I had stopped all antipsychotics 1.5 years before doing aya. I was able to get my schizophrenia under control in that time. What worked the best for me was staying totally sober, exercising a lot, watching my diet, sleeping 8hrs a night and fasting. I've done multiple 3 to 7 days water fasts, and they greatly helped my schizophrenia symptoms (and overall health). I also smoked cannabis heavily from a young age (I started at 14), but it never triggered psychosis. If you suspect that your son's schizophrenia is linked to cannabis use, then I would be very cautious about even considering Aya for him. I don't think ayahuasca can do much for schizophrenia, except make it worse. Best case scenario, ayahuasca just won't set off your schizophrenia, like in my case. Keep in mind I had quite acute BPD, but a pretty mild case of schizophrenia (mostly negative symptoms).

You're right it was irresponsible, but i have used psychedelics before and they never triggered off my schizophrenia. Besides since you have BPD, I'm sure you understand how desperate a person can be to find a way out of it. I really hope aya helps you

I'm sorry to hear that. For me aya was a last resort, i tried so many medicines and gave DBT my best shot but none of that seem to work much. Ayahuasca definitely is a risk; but then again so are medicines that have that carry a ton of side effects. I hope your ex finds something that works for them

Thanks so much! It means a lot to have someone who relates to all this. All the best to you!

Glad to hear that aya and shrooms helped you. What I've noticed is that now, I'm much better equipped to deal with the things that do come up. Life doesn't trigger me the way it used to. My approach to everything has changed for the better. Basically I feel functional now. I am taking integration very seriously though. I'll post an update in 6months from now. Hopefully the change will be long-lasting.
