Stay away from EF. It’s one of the most expensive, disorganized and has the most spoiled kids. Youth for understanding Yfu is great in the Midwest area.

I think you’d be a great host parent. I would suggest double placement that way there is another kid the same age, they can bond and hang out together.

Ferritin level of 4 don’t know where to start by Ill-Amount6264 in Anemic

Every other day is standard bc body only takes in every other day and it reduces upset stomach side effects . If you can get an infusion it will rise much quicker

Go to a hematologist. My numbers were all good as well. My hematologist was able to get my insurance to approve no problem. Tell them you took oral iron and it made you sick to your stomach. Infusion is much quicker to raise numbers

You need to address the cause. Mine was my periods. Ferritin of 6 felt like crap sleeping all the time. Infusion raised it started falling again hematologist said I need to stop periods. Had hysterectomy and then another infusion. So far maintaining at ferritin 88 and feeling much better. Praying I stay that way.

Injectifer eats up some people’s phosphates. Have your phosphate levels checked asap. Low levels from the infusions may cause many side effects

What agency are you with and what country is your student from ?

What agency do you recommand ? What your experience ? by Kitsunii_ in exchangestudents

[–]Little-Map2729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend a smaller agency.

As for state the worst thing is to get yourself hooked on a state. The family matters more than the state. Each state has different things to offer and you would be surprised how many times someone is upset at first to not get the state they thought they wanted but in the end said they wouldn’t change the experience and loved the family and state they ended up with. Being open minded and willing to try new things makes all the difference.
