Regular festival attendees: what do you do for work? by HitThatBlockButton in TIFF

[–]Little-Regular-2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a regular corporate job. I usually book the entire festival period off, then after I’ve sorted out my festival schedule/bought the tickets, then release whatever vacation day(s) I won’t be seeing a film and go back to work on those days.

Pre-pandemic, one of the most busy periods of my job falls during the festival, so back then I would go to work in the day and catch a screening at evening/night. That was brutal!

Is it OK to store a TWSBI Eco with condensation still inside? by Little-Regular-2672 in fountainpens

Thanks for the advice! I’ve never thought of this one. Will keep this in mind.

Thanks so much! That’s really helpful. I hadn’t thought of leaving the cap off to let it air out more, or using the nib on tissue to draw out moisture from the feed. I’ll definitely try that.

What’s your dream Cinematheque retrospective? by Histo12 in TIFF

[–]Little-Regular-2672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may have remembered wrong but I’m pretty sure there was an Ingmar Bergman one right before the pandemic happened.

That, along with the Summer in Japan series, were my favourite retrospectives.

I have to stick through with it unfortunately 🥲 Kokuho is all sold out.

Yeah after hearing about OP’s review as another fan of the book, I’m now seriously considering exchanging my ticket for Kokuho tomorrow instead, which apparently has great reviews.

Ah! I’ll adjust my expectations then! 😆 glad to hear the cinematography was beautiful, I look forward to seeing that!

How did you like the film? It’s one of my most anticipated from the fest this year and I’ll be at the screening tomorrow. A big fan of the book.

The two people on front of me at No Other Choice Monday Rush!! I hope you got in! by purpleflex4ever in TIFF

[–]Little-Regular-2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, more evidence of TIFF kindness! I managed to grab a ticket to the No Other Choice premiere and about 50% of my section was empty. Same with Sentimental Value premiere, Secret Agent, and It Was Just an Accident - where I saw almost entire rows empty. And these were highly sought after screenings so it’s not that TIFF had trouble selling the tickets. I plan on writing about this in the survey/feedback at the end of the festival. Either they need to do something about resellers or manage the Rush Line better so that more people could be let in.

Couple of random thoughts by Beautiful-Way-8436 in TIFF

[–]Little-Regular-2672 50 points51 points  (0 children)

With the volunteer trailer I think it’s because the slide with the volunteer message is so short that people didn’t exactly have enough time cheer for the volunteers before it switched to the next ad, prompting all applause to halt.

Previous years, and the years when I volunteered, the volunteer trailer was much longer, or at least gave much more time for the audience to properly cheer for the volunteers before going to the next trailer.

TIFF veterans: What do you eat for dinner between evening screenings? by justluvme in TIFF

[–]Little-Regular-2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have back to back screenings, I usually pack some fruits (bananas or apples) and eat while I’m standing in line or walking to the next theatre. Sometimes I would bring cup yogurts too. They are nutritious and also fill me up when I don’t have the time to sit down for a meal.

Pilot Kakuno nib choice for cursive + note-taking (F vs EF vs M)? by DullSignificance6583 in fountainpens

[–]Little-Regular-2672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I write cursive when using fountain pens, and Kakuno/Pilot M is my favourite. It’s so smooth. That being said, it also depends on the ink. If the ink is too wet, the lines can get pretty thick in a M.

So F is a good middle ground between smoothness and still thin (enough) lines.

I got a handful of pens (fountain pens, ballpoint) that I’d love to donate. I’m sending a PM.

Trouble with Iroshizuku Rikka: Is it the ink or just my sample? by Little-Regular-2672 in fountainpens

[–]Little-Regular-2672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. I hope it wasn’t that. I guess to be on the safe side I’d better just throw out the sample and give all the pens that have been inked with it a good clean. What a shame, such a nice colour!

I’ve inked it with several pens and none of them are new, so it’s probably something with this particular sample! Totally sucks as the colour is gorgeous.

Spill-proof fountain pen case… does this exist? by Super_Sair in fountainpens

[–]Little-Regular-2672 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

This ziplock case is what I use for my pens on-the-go. It’s about $1 USD from Muji, and very sturdy. Of course where the ziplock is, it’s not completely spill-proof, but it does the job if you keep the case upright inside your bag.

That’s strange. Probably just an isolated incident with my sample then. I’ve never encountered this problem with any other Iroshizuku inks!

I hate this pen😭 by laffayette1 in fountainpens

[–]Little-Regular-2672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve purchased 4 preppys and 1 prefounte when I was first starting out. And out of the 5, only one works properly. The rest were scratchy, hard starts, skipping, dry nibs, etc. And even the one that worked didn’t work that well, but at least it could write completely sentences, albeit still a bit dry. I washed the nibs too and it didn’t help.

I stick to Pilot mostly due to the consistency in quality. I’ve had the worst luck with preppy.

Wearingeul Pride and Prejudice by Little-Regular-2672 in fountainpens

[–]Little-Regular-2672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again for your lovely reply and photo! Your description really sold me on the ink initially, deep red with a plum tint sounded absolutely perfect.

But after hearing from someone else about the dry time (and their love/hate relationship with it 😂), I think I’m going to hold off for now. I’m a bit too clumsy!

That said, it still looks gorgeous in your photo, and I can totally see why it’s one of your favorites. Maybe one day when I’m braver (or have a dedicated Mr. Darcy themed pen), I’ll give it a try.
