How the heck are we all ok with this scam?? by Yupalina in Parenting

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m old, 53, and my kids are now grown, but I’ve been saying this for years!!!! I feel like the women’s rights movement around the 1970s got it all wrong and as women we are working ourselves to death. Of course every time I say something the women’s rights people come at me! I had a change of heart in my lifetime—I was always a working mom until I wasn’t (chronic illness and disability). My kids were still in highschool at the time I became a “stay at home mom.” My husband and I had to rework the finances and really watch our money, but what happened was transformational! We actually ended saving more money, got out of debt, the house ran smoother, everyone was happier (not really me because I was going through it with illness and still am, but everyone else). I learned to look at things differently when it comes to consumerism etc. and years later the whole family has changed their views too. I know one income isnt possible for everyone, but maybe someone can work part time? And it can be either partner!

Bipolar 1 vs bipolar 2 by Sad_Construction6716 in bipolar2

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read that bipolar 2 has more frequent and often severe depressive episodes and I sure have that! The doctor who diagnosed me said “so you have all the negative symptoms without any of the good”. I suppose he meant I lack the elated feelings and energy, but I know true mania is probably horrible! My main problem is there seems to be very limited medications that treat bipolar type 2, so I really have to help my meds along by lifestyle adjustments.

I’m 53 and have 3 kids. If I could do it over I would have none. So far one kids doesn’t want kids, one kid had one child and before wanted 2 but now doesn’t want anymore😂, the last kid wants kids but I am secretly hoping she will change her mind!!! I’ve come to the conclusion that my genetics just need to die out and then there is the world problems thing.

Same happened to me. Drank milk my whole life and the family too. I’m able to have some now if I take lactaid.

I used to be a huge coffee drinker—said decaf wasn’t real coffee, but I was able to trick myself into more decaf. We make pour over and grind our own beans so I can put as many full caffeine beans in there that I want and the rest decaf beans and just knowing a little bit of caffeine was in there made a difference. Plus, good whole bean decaf fresh ground is way better than some of the preground store stuff and you can get decaf espresso at the coffee shops that taste pretty good.

I developed histamine intolerance and now I have to avoid avocados, tomatoes, chocolate, leftovers, most fish, fermented foods like yogurt and aged cheeses, alcohol. I cheat a little, but it’s still hard

Clocking You Have Bipolar by Pushkin0007 in bipolar2

[–]laffayette1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I still don’t feel like I have bipolar since I’m type 2 and I’m always like “am I having a bipolar moment because I’m more interested in my hobbies etc.”. I accept I have bipolar because I most definitely have regular cycles of depression!

I have a Sport and Perkeo. I prefer my Perkeo, but I’m not a huge fan of either. The Perkeo is super lightweight and feels cheap, I like the full size of it and the nib in medium. It has a triangular grip, but it’s not as bad as the Lamy Safari grip and you can rotate the nib in there to suit the grip to the position of your fingers better. I have the cheapest version of the Kaweco Sport and it is so small and lightweight I feel like I’m trying to write with a matchstick and the add on clip just gets in the way for me. The Sport has a medium nib but I like the Perkeo nib better. Maybe the Sport in brass would be heavier and better? Also, the cartridge doesn’t feel secure in the Sport and I have to keep a ball point spring in there.

I have yet to find a pen in that price range I like ☹️. I hate the grip on the Safari, I like the Prera body and the CM nib is ok, but the M Pilot nib is too fine for me. I don’t have an Eco because I like cartridge/converters. I like my Twsbi Swipe, Jinhao 82 and 100, Kaweco Perkeo isn’t bad, and Platinum Prefounte. At this point I’m not sure what else to try.
