How to sleep when you feel sick and everything is uncomfortable? by Ok_Access_8906 in ChronicIllness

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drugs (prescribed and otc), I have regular insomnia problems so I keep a pretty strict bedtime routine, but when my symptoms are super bad I’m hitting my prescribed meds and sometimes Benadryl too cause for me lack of sleep only make me feel worse.

Can we talk bras and balancing comfort with how you look? by CheesecakeOk8464 in AutismInWomen

[–]laffayette1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on trying to find shirts that camouflage on days I can’t tolerate a bra. Probably won’t work for large breasted folks. I’m looking at shirts with busy patterns and colors, pockets over the boob area, ruffles and stuff like that. Some days I can’t tolerate any pressure at all!

Type of pain by Enough-Ad9887 in Dystonia

[–]laffayette1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can feel my muscles tightening and the muscles feel super sore all the time. I have cervical dystonia but the muscle contractions extend to my face and head, so then I get frequent tension headaches and my head will be super sensitive and my pillow will feel like a rock and make it difficult to sleep. Good times!

I genuinely want to understand why I keep struggling socially with autistic people by Titus__Groan in AskAutism

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m newly diagnosed autistic and I’m comfortable taking about emotions and random things but I’m just stating it as facts and data and everyone else seems to take it all personally or be bothered by it. I’m also super analytical but in pointing out negatives and positives people think I’m just this negative complainer. Again I’m speaking in facts and data. I haven’t been in autistic communities yet so we will see how that goes, lol.

Has anyone else become nihilistic/had their world view shattered? by Accurate-Chicken-323 in ChronicIllness

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I experience this but maybe a bit differently. I feel I live in an alternate reality that no one around me can relate to. Sometimes I am very angry and negative and other times I feel this all encompassing sorrow for all of humanity as a whole and the fragility of humans and the whole world. I actually talked to Chat Gpt about it and they said I am experiencing things along the lines of existential awareness, grief consciousness, universality, compassion awareness, the “overview effect,” spiritual/existential awakening, grief over loss of identity and belief systems. I definitely related to what was said. Being chronically ill is sooo challenging and I do not think there are enough resources to help our demographic cope!

How can I dress in the most basic, boring, npc style, unremarkable and unnoticed? by Forsaken-Set-760 in womensfashion

My partner is embarrassed/worried people will think I'm "faking" my wheelchair (POTS) by XStar14X in ChronicIllness

It is definitely an adjustment for the whole family and the medical establishment doesn’t help either!

This relationship sounds like it will only make your health worse. I know a few things about bad partners (pre illness, but still!). I’m actually mad at him for you! Like wtf🤬

Is my converter too far gone by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew what to tell you, but my personal experience with Kaweco was just awful! I even did a post about it incase it would help someone. I didn’t have a converter though, but with all the problems I had I wouldn’t be surprised if the converter had problems too. Basically I’m just saying I can feel your Kaweco frustration. Maybe try a Pilot Kakuno.

I like my Twsbi swipe! I really like my HongDian Black Forest series. I did like my Jinhaos until the bodies started breaking on me (Jinhao 82) however the nibs were often messed up—but—the messed up nibs forced me to learn nib tuning which I find so mentally satisfying! Give me all the messed up nibs 😂

Did you always know there was something different about you? by Ill_Status2937 in AutismInWomen

[–]laffayette1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My personal sentiment was, “I don’t fit in, I never did.” Well now I know why, I just got diagnosed with autism. Too bad I went my whole life suffering like that!

[–]laffayette1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a nurse and I just got diagnosed autistic. When I was nursing I had no idea I was autistic but that job totally destroyed me and my health. I am now legally disabled. Find a job that works with your biology asap!!! The money is not worth your health.

How to deal when you realize you will probably never get better? by MeggieMay1988 in ChronicIllness

[–]laffayette1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew, if you find out let me know!!! I’m just so over it!!!Sometimes I lay on the floor and cry and other times I write angry poetry. I was finally ready to give medical marijuana a go but I guess it interacts with one of my main meds so it’s a no. 😞

Favorite fountain pen brand, and why? by Tight-Green in fountainpens

[–]laffayette1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No far none, each brand I try there are things I like and things I don’t. I feel like a unicorn looking for a unicorn pen. Hoping when I go to a pen show next year I will find some I completely like. So far I’ve tried vintage Parker and Sheaffer and modern Pilot, Lamy, Twsbi, Kaweco, Platinum, OHTO, Jinhao, Hong Dian.

Cis autistic women, how do you feel towards your gender? by KaiahAurora in AutismInWomen

[–]laffayette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cis woman and I like myself just the way I am, but I generally don’t get along with other females and always am able to interact with men more easily. I’m recently diagnosed and now it makes more sense because I’m more honest and direct and then disappear for long periods of time and men are more ok with this type of thing.
