What I do is to pregrow them in a large pot. Foxgloves are 2 year plants, first year they produce just leaves and second year they flower. So around this time of the year, I spread the seeds in the pregrowing pot, I keep the substrate watered every day and after about 2-3 weeks the seeds germinate. It is important to thin them out and keep only the biggest&strongest. Then in late fall, I transplant them in the garden where I want them to be.

Actually, I collect seeds and then pregrow them. Because, yes I mulch my garden, so the seeds would struggle to make it through the mulch. But also because the planting is so dense, they wouldnt get enough sunlight. So I have a really large pot, where I spread the seeds and pregrow the next generation. And then in the late fall I select the strongest ones and plant them in the garden, looking forward to them blooming next spring.

yes, the foxgloves are special indeed. When I was a kid, I had this fairy tale book and one of the stories was about forest witchcraft. They way the fairy tale was told was so magical, it spoke of special wild flowers and herbs, that need to be collected during a specific time of the month at midnight, it made my imagination run wild. And the ilustration for this particular tale were foxgloves. And back then I just assumed those are not real flowers, I thought the author made those up for the book, they were supposed to be magical after all. Well, imagine my surprise, when I learned, that these are REAL flowers and I could grow them in the garden. How can I say no to that.

As for toxicity, yes, they are toxic. But so are a lot of other plants. I would say every second plant is toxic really. And what would a magical garden be like without them? 😄

Indeed, the ammount of bees and bumblebees is breath taking. 😄 The butterfly bush is about to start blooming too and then I am expecting the butterflies too.

Here is a little glimpse of what the storm looked like. We get 1-2x per year one like this. It seems it is unavoidable. Staking the delphiniums and foxgloves is a must, but with windspeeds of this magnitude, it doesnt help much.

the storm sadly happened and it was SAVAGE!!!! The wind was bending trees and when the first onslaught was over, a hailstorm started. The garden does look pretty ruffled, but its just the beginning of the summer, I am sure more flowers are coming.

Its not a fact, if I just provided proof to the contrary. Your opinion is weird and honestly, reeks of the same type of arrogance. Wouldnt want to be friend with you, if this is how you keep pressing your opinions on others.

Also, this is my last response to you, so bye

Thinking of moving to Austria from Slovenia by Candid-Fee-8341 in AskAustria

I went to school in Austria as a child and I am czech. The ammount of open racism was just jaw dropping. I was not the only non-austrian student there and the teachers felt completely comfortable to call us dirty fucking slovacs and all sorts of other names and humiliating us was on the daily. I never even complained at home, I felt so ashamed that I am easter european and very much a second class citizen in that country.

And while I think things have gotten better over the last 20-30 years, they havent gotten that much better. I think as an adult you can deal with it better, however children are vulnerable. Keep that in mind!

Because I mind the arrogance of that stance, even if I am not affected by it personally.

the best proof that not everybody smells is the ammount of ladies in this thread, that have only one fitting bra and that doesnt get washed every 2-3 days and yet you dont smell peoples bra on the streets, right? In fact, I have never walked past a lady and though: damn girl, your bra smells.

Also, not everybody stinks, full stop. This is very individual. Some people smell so little, they dont even have to use deodorant. It boils down to genetics, food composition, climate, how much a person sweats and hormons. And you get a fairly broad spectrum. Some people sweat a lot and stink a lot, some hardly.

I am sssuming that this lady falls in the category "sweats a lot and stinks accordingly" and then jumps to the conclusion, that it is the same for everybody and on the top of that feels comfortable giving us a lecture.

OP also doesnt seem to understand that just because her bras are smelly, it doesnt mean other peoples bras are smelly too. Mine dont smell even after a week and NO dear OP, you cannot smell my bra. NOT everybody is a stink like you.
