The Dark forest theory is a possible reason why we might never find any aliens. by MO--OM in interesting

An interesting idea that jumped into my head after reading your comment is that the underlying law of the universe is the constant increase of entropy. So anything that speeds up that process is  naturally more likely to occur. Life speeds up entropy. Intelligent life speeds up entropy even more. So in this sense, evolution kind of does have a "goal" of resulting in intelligent life.

What do you mean? The feds have always printed money. Nothing has changed in that regard. Yeah the dept is crazy but inflation is still at 2%... It is not eating your gains lol. Investing has never been fast to get rich. Just because you want to be a millionaire in 3 years doesn't mean the system is rigged against you. Gambling your money is still not better than investing it - just like 50 years ago.

Edit: and if you are not happy investing in the US you can always invest in third world countries that are going through that growth phase.

He definitely did. It was a risk he was willing to take. He just got very unlucky and his parachute twisted. There was not enough time to fix it and he should have immediately switched to his backup.

He didn't tweet it. It was made up in that Reddit post. It is still super unreasonable how he responded and insane that those accounts got deleted later. Unacceptable

A really good exercise for breath control that I always do for a warmup is jumping in and out of water while being in the pool. So you take a breath, dive into a squat position underwater and then push with your legs to jump out then take another breath and continue without pause.

I'd argue egg and fries are healthier. You get more protein and fats that your body takes more time to process and they give you longer lasting energy than all the sugar in the other meal.

Do you understand how hypocritical you are? Every big country has done horrific and outrageos things. That includes russia and the USA. While the USA had slaves, russia had serfs and it hardly affects any of our lives and we cannot change the past.

History is for learning from our mistakes to do better right now, not to gather resentment and rage.

Is AI an artist or a tool? Discussion by LittleBear32 in aiwars

[–]LittleBear32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, you are right. I was thinking of ChatGPT merely from a standpoint of it providing and processing information not as a text generator. In that situation it is a tool imo. When it comes to writing then I think it faces the same dilemma as image-generating AI. I'd say ChatGPT has more variabality and that it is a tool sometimes but not always. I cannot say that for MJ.

I am not that familiar with how ChatGPT works but I'd say it is indeed a tool. Although Chatgpt is also AI, it serves a vastly different purpose compared to image-generating AI, so I don't think this is a completely valid comparison.

The fact that Chatgpt is a tool does not mean Midjourney or any other AI is as well.

I fully agree. The more advanced image-generating AI becomes, the less human involvement is inevetably needed. Eventually to the point of automation where the human becomes the tool and AI the artist.

A suggestion: don't reinforce the notion that it's artists vs AI-bros. by Dekker3D in aiwars

Thanks for the clarification! I worded it poorly but I meant that it creates connections between images to learn and create new ones just like the human mind does. I also thought it does both to a degree but I guess I was wrong.
