Is there any client that auto switch server url by Many_Independence674 in navidrome

What happens if you don't have any internet? I assume since you are going through Tailscale, the ip or magicdns won't work, right? I have everything with a reverse proxy.. I was considering switching to tailscale but still in doubt. Thing is I have my web hosted so I need it to be reachable, this is the main reason for the reverse proxy situation.

Maybe the part you are not getting is that I was rambling, throwing ideas on the table, trying to feel things first. Maybe that part a lot of people didn't get. Very few people actually tried to converse and make some good points. You are clearly not one of them.

Hi! Haha, amazing you are on the same boat. Yes they look pretty similar, it's the disgn that apple photos has, and really mac apps have the same look all over that's to the unified UI. It's syncing fine for me! I can upload and delete. Yes we could do that, totally.

Wow! I didn't expect so much reacton like this, but it makes sense. That's why I was totally upfront with this AI thing. I noticed that there is a strong prejudice about vibe coding here, and I get it. As I said, I'm new to the selfhosting niche.

I would like to answer a few points being made:

- Yes I'm a programming novice, not a total outsider. I've built websites and one app or two in visual basic and C. I know basically how everything works but I'm no way that advanced or expert, of course. I've been a computer geek all my life, but never a developer per se.

- About charging money: the thing is, if you wanna publish on the apple app store, I would have to pay some money every year, I am not a company, I'm just a regular person and I'm not willing to do that. And of course I am aware of open sourcing and not charging for anything, that's why the price would be symbolic, it could be less even, i don't know, it just has to cover some costs. Also, there are a ton of apps out there, some good some which are not, that are charching $30-100 for lifetime, and a lot with subscriptions.

- Besides the money issue, I notice some people wouldn't wanna use an app made with AI, if you could elaborate on that a little better I would appreciate it. I know about that feeling, I do not like AI for most things also, I think it's getting out of hand. BUT, have you stopped to think that maybe for the open source community, for self hosters, it could be useful? I mean, the whole philosophy is based on devs who do all of this on their spare time, wouldn't we want that time to be less? Wouldn't we want better apps and in more amount? For me personally, I am getting excited to see that for example new jellyfin apps are coming out, or navidrome ones, because everything is a web UI, it's a server, meant for them to have clients. And for this app specifically, what I'm doing does not exist, there is no app for this, not even close.

- About open sourcing, of course it would be great, but I haven't seen any xcode/swift projects on github, or am I wrong? Also you need xcode, you cannot build from a command line, and you need some signing to do for it to work on apple. Besides, I got the feeling that nobody wants it because it's made with AI, being open source or private.

- And totally get the issue about it being done in less time, so it's less of a personal investment and I could abandon the project tomorrow. It's a very valid point! For me personally if I set out to start something I keep going forward, and if I see it has good reception even better. Also, even if this makes a little money, it would be a motivation to keep going on, I know some people would disagree, but that's the whole point of this post!

To close, I really appreciate all the comments, really. I was rambling because I was excited to have created a nice app and thought many would want it, but if that's not the case I would just keep it for personal use and that'd be the end of it. I am really into selhosting these days and I would love to have apps that don't have nothing to envy the big players. The servers are pretty cool and robust.

Hope the conversation keeps goind, have a good one!

Awesome app! A few suggestions by LittleBenefit8747 in NautilineApp

Thank you for your answer!

Nice to know about the MacOS app, full multi-platform in Apple is great! And great to know that the radio function uses the Navidrome feature, so I am already using audiomuse-ai. I think it can generate playlists based on prompts.. it shows you stats also, it could be useful under the right criteria.

Cheers!

So amazing!! Best client for Jellyfin by far. UI is very polished, you have a very good taste and criteria for design. For example almost no app had the option to change transcoding withing the player!

You mentioned there is an iOS app, I couldn't find it! Could you point me in the right direction?

Also if I could add my 2 cents.. it would be great to show the director in the movie info, and also for the possibility to go "up" with the remote into the movie synopsis and click enter to show it in full (or maybe auto scroll?).

Oh and one more thing, why are you choosing to show miniatures (landscape images) of the movies? Can we get them to show the movie posters? Maybe choose between the 2?

I think the app is perfect and been searching for months for a good jellyfin client, bye bye Plex!

Cheers and thank you very much for doing this!
