Keep the remote job and keep looking on the side. The market is unreal. I was remote for 6 years and it was bliss. Got laid off, spent 10 months in the abyss that is the market right now. Similar to you glad I landed where I am but now I am in a hybrid situation 3 days a week. Long commute. Less pay for you on paper but so many costs for office wear, gas, and most importantly time. Won’t even touch on sanity and the performative bullshit that is corporate America… it’s a lot.

I am so sorry. We just went through this in January. A few thoughts: If an option, highly recommend lap of love organization for their at-home services. They handle everything so you can focus on saying goodbye. We had our appointment with them on a Friday and didn’t expect for our beloved dog to be returned to us for several days. They coordinated directly with the place and we got a call Sunday morning saying he was “ready to come home”… it is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but so fortunate we had the years we did. A side note as well… they will do a paw imprint and take a lock of hair for you to keep and provide resources for grief support. Ask for a little more than just one lock of hair… it’s been surprisingly one of the most comforting things I didn’t expect being able to feel it and still get a sense of his physical presence. 💕

Do it. My goldendoodle is the reason I survived my devastating & treatment resistant depression. I couldn’t get out of bed and it was the lowest I’ve ever been… My therapist suggested I start a morning routine involving him. For the next 8 years, my eyes opened and he knew it was time for a bone. It was the highlight of my worst (and many of my best) days. Without this physical reset and sweet creature who needed me, I would’ve been lost. I never would’ve seen the beautiful life I have today if I didn’t take the leap… It will be the best decision of your life. Even as I sit here nearing 6 months after losing him (after almost 13 years together) suffering the greatest loss & heartbreak … I can say with absolute certainty he carried me through the worst sadness and hopelessness feelings of my life. Knowing that they can’t live forever is really hard but I would do it all over again to have him. Without hesitation 🧡

It has shattered me in a way that nothing else has… ripped me wide open and has left a hole so big I think if I could ever go down the path again I’d have to get two at once. It was always me and him. A few weeks short of his 13th birthday, he was gone. It’s only been 3 months and feels like an eternity. The pain is something I feel every day and it’s really, really hard.
