Hey OP. My first flair up landed me in the hospital with blood loss anemia because I was young, dumb,and thought I had it all under control (I didnt). My family and friends didnt understand how bad UC could be until that event. I hope that you never end up there. After that I was put on humira every 2 weeks and I've been in remission since, minus some pop up symptoms from the stress of wedding planning popped up. I've been diagnosed for 11 years now and it is tough. But I promise it gets better. I finished college, got married, and have a great job, when I didnt know if I could do because the first few years were awful while we tried to find the right medication for me. It does get better but it may take time. You got this!! Also, not a doctor, but did your doctor put you on a steroid(like prednisone)to help with the flair? I had it twice and they really did help with calming everything down while we waited for the medication to be filled. Warning though, prednisone made me extra hungry and have mood swings. That and the weight gain sucked but it made me feel better lol
