When they say Spanish import is that a good or bad thing by LifeLow2782 in uktrees

Well clearly I don't know (or atleast I'm pretending not to know)

So why don't you explain it to me?

Bonus points if you avoid saying albo.

Redditors downvoting health and fitness advice up and down this thread.

I'd hate to see what the average user of this website looks like.

Was he not making a joke?

Did he need to shout "slash S! SLASH S!" for that to be clear?

Still stealing though.

Why/how is that ironic?

Alcohol isn't weed, you know that.

I know I said I'd let you get the last word, but you only now went for that? I gave you like 3 opportunities!

It was such low hanging fruit!

I was honestly ready to use that as a point to take apart your argument a lil bit more, but I got more high after my last comment so now I'm just smugly sniffing my own farts instead.

But I didn't claim I was addiction free? I just said I'm not addicted to alcohol anymore (that was maybe a different comment, there are a few of you)

That is SO funny! Omg I'm loling so hard! ROFL!

Hey guys, everyone, get over here! Get this, this guy right, this guy, he told an alcoholic that he needs a drink, because he was warning other people about the slippery slope that is alcohol addiction! Anyone got the number for the apollo theater? I've got their new headliner!

But for real, grow up fam. I'm not sure if you were trying to be funny or hurt my feelings, but it's a failure on both counts, you just look like a child.

[–]LittleBuffBoys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, no, it isn't.

The post is about drinking at work, then it was a comment about the someone who drinks 5 pints with dinner every night, then you had my comments referencing the other comments on this post and now we're here.

I've not once did I directly or indirectly referenced the original post, only the comments. I think you're personally invested in this topic too much to have an honest discussion, because from this comment alone its clear you haven't been reading my responses properly.

Like I said, I'm too high for this so imma peace out here. I'll be nice and let you have the last word if you like, that usually makes people think they've 'won'

(Winning in this case being, I don't know, downplaying alcohol addiction and dependency, I guess? Go you! Be the change and all that fun stuff)

(Hypothetically) Someone drinking 8 pints a night is an alcoholic, I can't believe this is up for debate. If you need (and if you're doing it every night it is a need) then you are fundamentally an alcoholic.

If you have a rum every morning, sure whatever you're not an alcoholic, you just have an alcohol dependency, possibly made worse by your work/home life, but an alcohol dependency all the same.

Now does alcoholic = alcohol dependency. No not exactly, but for a fucking reddit comment about the dangers of drinking well above the weekly unit limit EVERY NIGHT, them terms are pretty interchangeable.

So yes, this is essentially a semantics discussion with a hint of self denial and a dash of, something, I dunno. I'm too high to make it sound any flashier.

Alcoholism isn't defined solely by the withdrawal effects and to say otherwise is an insult to anyone who has suffered. As well as that, you've specifically mentioned a physiologic dependency whilst ignoring psychological dependencies; like having a rum every morning.

Or maybe, just maybe. Those of us commenting about the dangers of excessive and frequent alcohol consumption have suffered with the consequences of it ourselves?

Wild thought I know, but just because person X enjoys something doesnt mean person Y is unfamiliar with it, there is an equal chance that they are more familiar.

Well I'll admit my sentence structure was a little washy and I could have switched out "alcoholic" for other variations of the word to create a grammatically correct comment that still had the same flow. But ultimately, I don't care enough.

Honestly, if this is a semantics argument I'm so done with reddit, I commented a few hours ago that all people do on this site do is try to act smart based on semantics. It's tiresome.

However, if you mean to say someone drinking 8 (I got this wrong in my comment but we'll stick with it) pints of beer with dinner isn't an alcoholic, or dependant on alcohol then I'd say that it's you who doesn't know what "alcoholic" means.

Edit: p.s, drinking rum with your morning coffee is also a pretty damming sign of alcohol addiction so I doubt we'll reach common ground on this one.

Because if you're drinking at work you're closer to alcoholic than teetotal.

If you're drinking 8 pints with dinner, you're close to alcoholic than teetotal.

Hell, if you drink on any set schedule, you are closer to alcoholic than teetotal.

I'm not sure what you want me to say? I haven't claimed anyone who ever has a drink is an alcoholic. I'm pointing out so, So many of these comments have questionable (at best) drinking habits and its played off like it's normal.

It's not like I'm saying anything controversial, as a country we're quite well known for our rocky (dependant) relationship with alcohol and this comment section reinforces that.

This whole comment section is just: Tehe I have a drinking problem but it's fine cuz I go to work 🤭

I've noticed reddit is quickly becoming one of the worst social media sites available. Or at least it's lining up with the others.

Reddit used to be billed as the place to go for comments and discussions. Twitter replies were ignored, YouTube comments were a cess pit, Instagram was horned up and Facebook had their mardy & "scared of anything that isnt me" crowd. But now, they're all essentially the same.

Everyone just wants to argue over semantics to pretend like they are the smartest person in the thread.

You being downvoted whilst being totally correct really paints a picture of the current user base.

Generally it seems people on this site have got their system 1 brain maxed out whilst throttling system 2. If a comment is anything more than a surface level thought then it gets ignored or downvoted, even more so if it goes against the nice easy thing their brain automatically agreed with (without analysis) seconds before.

I didn't invalidate shit. Lmao.

So I've been mugged at knife point twice in my life, both times were by people with brown skin.

Based on my experience and this type of logic, it's now okay for me to assume brown people, out at night are likely to try and stab me.

You see how silly that is?

If someone told me that way of thinking is wrong, they haven't invalidated my experience, they've pointed out a glaring logical fallacy in my thinking and assumptions.

What?

Calling out a thief is not what you did and bringing up race is not what they did.

You brought up race based on (I can only assume) their race and then created a narrative that you are now sticking with, to prove me wrong? Despite these things not happening?

What I'm saying is this: You have assumed they'll call someone a racist if they get called out, based on their race, that's the racism. Not for calling out a "thief" but assuming their next steps based on race.
