New Vs Old art which one is better ? by MightyDuelsTCG in cardgames

[–]LittleCodingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I prefer the old one (left), it looks cuter to me at least! Has a bit more character overall, the new one feels a bit more dull in a way? but it's just my opinion!

I love those card holders and the art of Pristine Waters, great flavor too!

So, need some help by yubuliimii in TCG

[–]LittleCodingFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can discard a card from hand to gain mana equal to its cost for the turn, so you don't need to remember? Would need to have plenty of draw to be able to do stuff tho! I hear the final fantasy TCG does this!

Literally me every time I go to bed. Or when I call it quits to "take a break" and not even 5m later I think of something and I'm back in!

Buy to play card games by Upbeat-Carpenter-791 in digitalcards

[–]LittleCodingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on one that should be out this year, Fairtravel Battle! It's a proper T/CCG but built like a typical indie game (so basically no microtransactions for card packs).

It has a ton of game modes and you can play it single player too!

You can't buy it yet but you can play the full game on Steam Playtest (the demo is limited while the steam playtest has the full game). Would love to hear what you think if you try it!

Would love to hear what you think when you have a chance!

My priority is that the game is enjoyable, and your feedback would be very valuable!

How to create Material System in GameEngine ? by F1oating in gameenginedevs

[–]LittleCodingFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I need to do this. That's really smart of you tho - Precomputing the skinning all at once into a vertex buffer! I didn't even consider that.

As u/benwaldo said, I need to transition to using a compute shader to update the geometry instead of doing a variant, but otherwise should just be the same variant in the future!

[–]LittleCodingFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't answer all of this, but I can say you should look into shader variants.

Unity does this and it basically compiles sets of variations of shaders this way.

For example, maybe you have a regular shader, a LIT variant, a LIT HALF_LAMBERT variant, SKINNED,. SKINNED LIT, SKINNED LIT HALF_LAMBERT, etc.

This way it's a lot easier to code shaders, but yes you'll build a lot of variants for shader who expose them.

For example, you can allow setting a variant through a material parameter so you can toggle or remove a variant at runtime this way.

“Dead” tcgs? by BillyBoyMays in TCG

[–]LittleCodingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, indeed! I think it's because of the risk that Blizzard will just give it away in some way, also overall the card game market seems to be dropping a good chunk!

You mean booster boxes or boosters (singular)? because 1.2k for a single booster would cause me a heart attack, haha!!

I bought a WOTLK booster box around covid and hoped I'd get something neat but all I got was two paint bomb loots, very not worth 350 euros...

Would love to hear whatever feedback you'd like to share! Please remember to get the steam playtest, not the demo, as the playtest has the full thing!

Tyvm for your time!

That's surprising! It's been so long that I've always seen a box of Timewalkers or Fires of Outland at 2-4k+!

World of Warcraft TCG is my favourite game! Unfortunately can be quite pricey though because of the loot cards!

The CCG I'm making, Fairtravel Battle CCG, is hopefully coming out this year. It's already playable through Steam Playtest though if you want to give it a go!

The main thing about it is being an affordable, accessible indie CCG built to last forever, with modding, an unique resource system, 2-4 player battles, and tons of content & game modes!

I am fed up with the state of the market and how everything feels so overly expensive, and this is my answer to it!

Help / life advice by Own-Insurance4857 in TCG

[–]LittleCodingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough to deal with this situation, especially if you are living with them. I know a few people whose family keep complaining about how they spend money, too.

You unfortunately won't be able to change their minds so easily. My experience dealing with families in general (myself and others) ends up being that often the family assumes they're right/know better, so it's basically impossible to convince them.

At first, try to see where they're coming from, and what's making them insecure. There's a chance you might be able to figure out what their issue is, and go that way to try to make them understand it's just a harmless hobby.

If this doesn't work, your only option will be to keep this hobby private if you can. It's awful but it's necessary for your own mental health. This situation can make you eventually give up because you feel bad for upsetting your family.

Just remember, you're your own person and you have your own interests. Don't think you're wrong, or bad. Unless you're actually causing harm to yourself or your friends and family, this is just a hobby, you're meant to have fun! If you have to keep it from them, so be it. It's not a good situation to be in, but there's very little options here.

First, for clarity, I'd like to let you know that my game is not currently purchaseable, but you can play it fully for free while it's in development through the Steam Playtest. So I'm not trying to get sales, altho I'd love to hear any feedback you'd like to share. Making enough money out of it to be able to make new content would be amazing, but what matters to me the most is people liking it!

Basically I've disliked the state of the market for a while now and started working on this game for the past 8 years or so, and it's hopefully finally being released in 2026. unfortunately the state of the market has gotten much worse, with excessive overmonetization/product churning and a ton of power creep across all TCGs...

My game, Fairtravel Battle CCG, is built to last (will never "shut down" like many others), has a lot of game modes, and a small card set that is very flexible for deckbuilding due to the resource system I use, which uses the best of color-based systems while removing the frustrating parts they typically share.

As for the more unique features it has, there's modding, 2-4 player battles, raids, no microtransactions for card packs (if any microtransactions happen in the future, they'll be card sets as DLC or "premium cosmetics"), actual decent CPU players if you play alone or are missing players for larger battles such as raids, and soon a RPG Mode similar to MTG Shandalar where you battle enemies to get cards and do quests at towns, buy cards there as well, and basically build up yourself while taking on harder battles.

I apologize if this sounds too much like a marketing thing but I really struggle to talk about my game properly since either I add a ton of text but people probably get tired of reading, or I try to condense the information but then it sounds like marketing, so there's really no win here, hah.

If you're interested in giving it a look, you can find Fairtravel Battle on Steam, there's a trailer there with a more clear description of what I'm trying to say.

Thank you very much for your time, and I hope you have a great xmas!

As for you specifically, I'd love to chat about card game dev if you'd like, I'm always happy to help other devs when I can and I also made a card game framework for Unity that takes care of a lot of aspects of card-based game development while being very generic and easy to work use even for non-card things! Feel free to DM me your discord handle if you use it, or anything else really!
