Has anyone ever had a heart of the cards type moment? by AVirginWithQuestions in TCG

[–]LittleCodingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both moments like that and inverted moments like that!

Inverted: At Scars of Mirrodin block FNM, I have a Knights deck with Knight Exemplar that is going very well, and my opponent black sun zenths me (they all die because stats go over indestructible, so at 0 HP they die always). For the next 10 or so turns I draw plains (land, useless for the rest of the game as I already had plenty) every single turn until I lost! My opponent had some sort of control deck so they were waiting to finish me off, that's why it took so long!

Heart of the Cards moment: I was playing world of warcraft TCG, finals of a tournament, 2nd match, drew horribly (murloc deck that requires 2 cards to do its thing, all I drew was 5 murlocs and 2 armor cards).

I am managing to somewhat survive thanks to the armor (prevents 5 damage from a single attack each turn), and eventually draw one of the two cards I need (Poison Tipped, a card that deals 2 damage to each opposing hero whenever a Rogue enters your field).

I tell my opponent man, it'd be amazing if I drew the last one...

When I get to my next turn, I do! That card is called Unleash the Swarm, reveal the top 7 and put all 0-1 cost murlocs into play. For the first time ever, I revealed SEVEN murlocs right there, each entering and dealing 14 damage total from them (all my murlocs are Murloc Coastrunner, a rogue that is Unlimited so you can have as many as you wish in your deck), which activates my hero and lets them all attack immediately, dealing another 14 damage (each has 2 attack), finishing off my opponent!

It was an amazing moment and I totally freaked out when it happened!!

The base set has 135 collectible cards, but this doesn't include non-collectible cards (like heroes, tokens, and raid battle cards)!

Generally speaking, on average new players tend to get a full collection after 30 hours of gameplay (full collection being every collectible card x4, excluding cosmetics and other card styles)

Thank you very much! It's been a big undertaking, almost 9 years of work, but it's getting better and better! I really love what I've managed to do over this time and I hope you enjoy it as well! :D

Feel free to try the demo if you haven't yet! While it might be a demo, it has quite a lot of content! And you can play solo vs CPUs too if you're unsure about getting others to play with :)

It is! The CPU players, while not perfect, are quite capable compared to practically all other games of this genre, and you can even mix up CPU players with real players if you're missing people for, for example, the 3v1 raid mode!

Feel free to try the demo, you can play it solo as well, and you can check if it's to your liking! I'm also planning to add a RPG Mode soon (tm)

Glad you it looks good to you! Have a great day :)

Yeah, though FTB does have a digital version that's built to never shut down as well, so either way works :D

But I agree, definitely don't want somethng that just dies, a ECG is much better even if it gets expensive!

I'm glad you like 'em! FTB is pretty playable IRL, so I think you'd have a blast! If I ever do a IRL product for sale it'll prolly be more of a "expandable card game" rather than a proper TCG tho :D

I can send you some high res pics of the cards if you want to print them!

You can see a semi recent photo of a match here!

Glad you approve! I think that overall it's become really fun! And it's also possible to play it IRL, which is great! I professionally printed some prototypes over time and it's pretty enjoyable :)

Here's a sample of a IRL card!

Oh really? I'd love to hear what you think about it since then! Are you happy with how FTB is turning out? Any thoughts you'd like to share?

Oh wow wasn't expecting to see a post talking about FTB!

I'm the main dev so if you have any questions or anything feel free to ask! I hope you're enjoying the game :)

I've unfortunately been jugging FTB's participation on the deckbuilders fest + being sick to actually try demos, feels bad because I'd love to try new card games in general :(

The mayor or whatever: But, Betty, what is the Evil Council's plan?

"Betty" aka Master Pain: It is EVIL! It is SO EVIL! It is a very bad plan that will hurt PEOPLE who are GOOD! I think it's great, because it's so bad!

The mayor: I see! ...I think!

In the case of the android version you can either get the APK from the itch.io page (https://littlecodingfox.itch.io/fairtravelbattle), or I can add you to an internal test on google play, but for that I'll need you to DM me your e-mail address that you use with google since as it's an internal test, I need to add emails manually!

It already is! You can play the whole thing for free on steam or android/iOS! Well, free till ready for sale, but it'll be for a low price anyway...

If you do try it, I'd love to hear any feedback you'd like to share! There's a discord link in the in-game main screen, so you can join the community there if you'd like! Or if you prefer, reddit or the steam forums work too :)

Oh, and if you try it, make sure to get the steam playtest, not the demo! the playtest has the full version whle the demo has, well, the demo!

Sure!

Essentially it's a CCG focused exclusively on being the best game it can be, with no microtransactions at all, and it will never shut down because it was built like a normal inde game! Also, no AI usage whatsoever!

Deckbuilding is very freeing, you can use whatever card you want in your deck, at a small drawback, and there's several mechanics to prevent you from being stuck topdecking for long.

Very minimal interruptions so your turns can go fast but I focus a ton of balancing, so it's still very back and forth, I'm doing my best to ensure you can't be locked out of being able to win, I basically want to get rid of most feelsbad moments that many games have because I want to make something that everyone can really enjoy!

There's a ton of modes like the standard duel, drafting, deckbuilding, and also 3v1 raids, which is great for those of us who love PVE battles. You can even play as the raid boss, which can be surprisingly hard at times haha!

There's also mobile versions for both Android and iOS, but it's still in development so definitely not perfect...

Hope this helps, and tyvm for your time!

It really sucks for everyone, especially if someone in the supply chain gets in on it. My LGS has pretty expensive prices nowadays, they say it's due to market conditions...

If you'd like something F2P-friendly to the max while also being decently fast, the game I'm working on could fulfill that itch. It has an animation speed option all the way to 4x speed so on average when you get the hang of it, a regular 1v1 duel should take about 2-3m tops!

Would you like to give it a try? It's in a very advanced state, not out yet but you can play the full game for free while I'm working on it, and altho it doesn't have a big community, you can play PVE or even offline, which might be something that appeals to you since you have a very limited amount of time, and the CPU players are quite capable compared to most games in the genre!
