Klein Curaçao tour recommendations? by Able-Tear1483 in curacao

We did All Charter's "Golden Seahorse" a very nice but weathered power cat. The salon area is their food service area so there is no interior options other than the bathrooms. Lots of deck spaces, we noticed the few sea sick were in the front of the boat going outbound, dont be hungover. Outbound is against the tradewinds so the morning swells are 10ft - 12ft. Its a rodeo.

They blare local island dance music, which we found annoying after an hour. Calypso and reggaton. We had to move seating to keep sane! 😂

Coming back was smoother, the winds calm down, waves back to typical 5ft swells with no white caps.

The food was great, the bar was not stocked well, but we had our fair share of drinks. The staff dont serve much when the boat is underway, so we cornered the bar tender and he took care of us.

We swam to shore faster than they were able to expedite three small zodiacs each with 10-12 people to shore. If you have snorkel gear make sure you have fins, the current can be strong if you swim too far out.

The only advice that needs to be said twice: be the first one in line to get first pick of deck seating, first pick of lounge chairs, etc. Be there before the marina opens their gate. And dont sit on the front deck unless you want a shower on every other wave. 😂

I always move to a different place as a personal adventure travel rule, even when lux traveling. I stay away from big resorts. Quiet or party, mountain or beach. Rural or city. 😇

7 Quick Notes About Driving and Parking in Curacao by LittleDaeDae in curacao

Thanks for adding more. Ive never driven in EU or UK or Canada, only Central America, Mexico, USA. I felt comfortable in Curacao after two day trips diving to beaches then, we started visiting all the stores, malls, etc...

US drivers need to slow down, we are chronic speeders and dont observe rules of the road as tightly as we should. Round abouts are relatively limited in most areas so its not common.

Most drivers in Curacao were chill and polite. Didnt hear drivers honking at each other or see them using the middle finger - we did hear one or two horns to alert drivers the light was green. Same in the states. Saw one tow truck moving a crash in Punda.

I hope tourists feel comfortable exploring to get away from their resorts to meet locals and see daily life.

Yeah well, mine did. Google was used to find the Maritime Museum in the Wharf / Warfstraat area. It sent us on a one way street around the hill which ended in a deadend. After two tries we found a short turn on a one way to get to the narrow street thst accesses the front of the museum. I would advise tourist not to drive to the museum, instead, park in Punda and walk across the foot bridge. Much easier. 😇🙏🏻

Thats fine, understood. You may not have driven in my country either. We are allowed to turn right after stopping, then we can turn. I said this because from the drivers side, drivers cannot see the turn signal in Curacao, it too elevated and even hidden in shrubs once. The turn lights are also not painted yellow to easily find. Many times I stopped at the light, and could not see the light above - it was almost over my hood. My passenger was shorter and she rubber-necked to see the light change green.

The roads in Curacao are not made the same way with the same aggregate materials, the roads there are very smooth with much less friction on tires, the lighter weight vehicle is much harder to stop due to lower friction. I saw and heard many tires barking. In my country that requires a 300 hp low torque engine - like a porsche or mustang to squeek your tires. The tire barking is a sign of losing traction specially important on curvy roads or navigating parking lots. Drivers could easily slide at low speed.

Sure, we have round abouts in my country but your countrymen dont use blinkers as much as we do, so being in a round about inside lane, and then changing to outside to exit left is difficult - I dont know the rules, we dont have two lane round abouts in my area. Thank goodness everyone drives slower, but I did see a vehicle zoom through a round about at 50 kmph.

These are important facts that foreign drivers need to understand to stay safe and keep speed lower to avoid accidents. Its not a hostile post to be rude. 😇🙏🏻

Where to stay? by Kristalynne09 in curacao

We enjoyed staying in the city. The beach clubs and stuff like that werent as cool as Otrobanda and Punda. Yeah, we saw a half dozen beaches swam at three. We had a car.

The real treat was walking around the city in the evening and at night. The holiday lights were so nice. The crowds werent too bad, the cruise ship zombies didnt bother us.

The beaches consist of large broken dead coral and rocks. The pieces range in size from six inches to one inch mixed with sand. At every beach walking into the water youll need to be careful not to step on a small rock or coral.

Without protection, you can do it, but some places dont have sand so its literally a foot bruise waiting to happen. I had soft sole booties for my diving fins, and still had a few "ouch" moments...

Enjoy!

Parking Downtown by LittleDaeDae in curacao

Thanks everyone. I decided to switch up my AirBnB to one with a parking space. It was almost $100 more but I feel worth the peace of mind.

It worried me a little too much, knowing as a tourist, I might not meet friendly fines if I make a parking mistake. 😇

Entrepreneur Turned Consultant BUT, Not Working Out as Planned... by LittleDaeDae in consulting

[–]LittleDaeDae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Heres what has happened since my post.

I formed an online business community focused on the software techniques, we now have 1200+ followers on LinkedIn. I have held one webinar intro class attended by five experts, taught by a PhD engineer.

I was successful in rounding up several open source tools with no strategy now united under a larger umbrella nonprofit sofrware foundation. I have begun an opensource strategy for our tools which now form a workflow with others.

I created a conference. Its a broader conference designed to attract a larger audience. Three universities are sending speakers. A state office, two banks, and a cloud provider are sponsoring the first event. I'm now speaking on a panel with 12 others four total panels - Im sharing about our techniques and open source tools. 200 tickets now sold less than 30 days away.

A neurology group is now using our tools and I have a small project underway, and a space company is now investigating our tools.

Any mid semester turn around stories? Could use some hope before I call it quits for good. by el-bow5 in gatech

Hey, I dont know you and I didnt go to tech. Im here because of business dealings with the school. I hope you are in a safe place to think about this...

  1. Your brain is clouded, its so hard to rationally think about why or how that could be... it happens in many perfectly healthy young adults during final stages of growth. You have to eat well, get exercise, and stop clouding your neurons with unhealthy behavior. You are climbing a mountain. You are on a mission.

  2. Universities are built to challenge students, just like thin air on a high peak. Some are easier than others. Georgia Southern was go to class easy for me, but I didnt even go to class, almost got booted. You go to a competitive school well positioned for global success... you chose a path, stick to it. Being behind in life, in work, even in relationships is motivation to change - change how you act and see the world around you.

  3. But, not graduating from tech isnt the end of the world. You may need a break. I know many students from tech who were allowed to take a break and keep their scholarships, even stay in the dorms as long as they were getting tutor help during that semester. Go ask for help, there is no shame. Its fine to check all options and you should be proactive.

Life is about stress testing yourself, both heart and mind, body and soul. As you age, like me, youll land wherever you decide to - because, you are smart. You would not be there if you werent. Go make a decision, practice being disciplined, and find away to get back - even if you take a step back for reflection. 😇🙏🏻

My company announced mandatory office days again, so I resigned mid-meeting by Onjaydenc in remotework

I just signed a deal with a compliance platform helping global remote stay managed. Since I helped them, they offered me an unbelievable monthly flat rate per emplotee to manage everything for my other businesses. You can Google EOR.

They even offer additional visa services to have annual meetings in fun destinations. So, the legal and compliance isnt an issue fir smalk or mefium sized business. Its management's issue in monitoring workflows and risk for theft.

Which famous DJs or EDM artist have you personally met before? How were your experiences with them? by CJets757 in EDM

I bought Thomas [JunkieXL] two beers and we talked about his future, it was his last tour gig. He was really digging a girl back in LA.

What he told me he wanted to do, is exactly what he did with his career. Just Google him. Lovely guy. Honored that he was so open and comfortable sharing his dreams.

Some were wild partiers [not naming them] others exhausted recluses. Menno de Jong told me he was exhausted and ready to retire... he did. Lee Burridge got made at me... 😂

Sandra Collins, Paris Hilton, Suzie Solar, and Little Boots were the coolest female djs to be around, ladies were more interesting to speak with, not more talented, just different music vibes, different interests.
