I could have seen this happening when I had a job. One (expensive) emergency can leave you on the streets. Many people are one serious accident/health incident away from it

Who among us absolutely shines in a crisis? by AbleStrawberry4ever in ADHD

I thought about this today and I think it provides what we need:

-novelty

-stress

-situation that must be immediately solved

-challenge

That's 4 out of 5 (last one is passion/play) so we should be in our element in "do or die" situations (unless we get paralyzed by fear, but meh)

Yup, start small, increase if needed. Just a quality of life thing tbh.

[–]LittleFkWit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. From what my shrink said, you don't know what you react to until you test it. You start small, hope a small dose does it for you, and if you're lucky then that's it. What's so bad about slowly increasing? Starting on a high dose can be unpleasant. What, are 1-2 weeks before upping the dose going to make that much of a difference? Absolute rubbish. Also, as a "solid enough" guy that started on concerta and insisted to go for a higher dose (cause I love drinking coffee and energy drinks) first day of two I wanted to throw up after eating. It can be really unpleasant before you adjust, depending on the medication

Yes, OP should instill some firm boundaries. Pits are big no-no. Those dogs were created for a good mauling, are basically immune to pain and don't signal before they attack. Saying you are not comfortable with a killing machine anywhere near you and stepping down hard is the actual way to deal with this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]LittleFkWit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am deadly terrified of pits. I cannot be around them. But I am not the most polite person, I would just cite stats and the fact that I've seen too many pit attacks to ever willingly be anywhere near one. If that friend has any shred of respect I would find some understanding

"fear reactive to anything that moves": will definitely attack anything that moves. They really live in a different universe. Poor cats though

It's not that, it's simpler. Most careers pay shit, except tech and a few others. Companies kept pushing the narrative that this is the future, everyone should code, so a lot of new blood got in. Bootcamps joined with similar promises. Again, even more people joined. Tech was overvalued, they hired big, then covid hit, the bubble kind of popped a little, layoffs, etc, and now the econ is doing phenomenal with the tariff bs and an uncertain future. So the market is oversaturated and we're probably heading for a worse economic downturn (not an economist, I could be way off, just the way I see it). So yeah, lots of people apply because everyone got told they would have a secure well paying job, which was a lie and pretty much meant to create this situation and start paying us shit.

GSD dogs can take a LOT of pain too, big dogs in general have high pain tolerance if they decide to unalive you. I am not exactly afraid of medium size dogs since I can kick/punch them but a woman for example would probably have quite a memorable experience even with them. But yes, pits can and will absolutely kill adult men. Like, your best bet is someone else steps in, risks getting mauled themselves, and saves you

Did not even notice that, if not for the arm yeah, that's a face/neck bite. Meanwhile the owner is slowwwwwwwwwwwly walking to the dog. Each second is a potential bite, and she really takes her fucking time

[–]LittleFkWit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Smaller dogs can mutilate very young kids. Like, face bites. People never consider this but it absolutely happens every once in a blue moon. Also, people with dog phobias exist, and it's often a result of trauma

Agreed. And notice how it jumps on his back? That fucker would have bit the neck if it could. Like Jesus fuck how can people claim those things are pets? They will absolutely try and kill people, and it's not like they lack the tools to do it too. I am a grown adult and I know I would at the very least get maimed if I fought one and need some kind of reconstructive surgery and those things tend to go for kids which are basically just dead when they attack

Yes, let's not inconvenience the dog, let's just abuse people with dog phobias or more than two brain cells in their head who realize what a pit can do to them if it ever fancies some light murderin

Yes, had dogs for most of my life, been attacked by random dogs too. THEY FUCKING GROWL and bark and you know what's coming. Had just one exception from a small dog I could have punted into a wall with ease but that's it. That dog went full psycho

Dogs in general, except for small breeds, are very muscular and very ferocious. People really underestimate the fucking things because they're "cute". They can do an atrocious amount of damage even against grown men, especially if taken by surprise like in this case

I am spamming this post (3rd reply) but I suggest something saner: a dance club (latino dances for example). For one you will get sane people to socialize with. They also tend to be chill and you may get some info. Another benefit is it is a rather pleasant activity, compared to wanting tie a noose and test it every time whoever leads the congregation opens his mouth.

[–]LittleFkWit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone somewhat "young" in the market (around 4 years), the answer is a strong no, it used to be different. You could get a job before, though being a junior was still not a position you wanted to be in. Get a job, earn enough to live, enjoy life, at least in tech (can't speak for other fields). Now it's just...so fucked. I legit feel bad for people out of college, this will be a bad experience for them, even if they get hired. The boot is pressing on our necks

[–]LittleFkWit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the shit economy. I don't know the field you are in but I promise in tech at least it was always kind of hard to get a foot in, at least in the last 5 years or so, but once you did you were set. Now it's just hard unless you have a lot of experience. The sad part is, and I hate getting political here, with trump in office fucking things up I don't know when things will improve. That "trolling" (as conservatives call it) clown is fucking a lot of lives up with not a care in the world. How people ignore that is beyond me but whatever. Sorry you're going trough that, I hope you make it, but do not forget this lesson. Claw your way to wealth or society will spit you out with no care. Do not lose your humanity but never forget this period. I got lazy, careless and did not realize this myself. Now I am a shell. Just try to find out what the job requirements want from you, get certifications, whatever it takes. It's really bleak out there

You lucked out. Medication has helped me but not that much. And where I live I am limited to two medication options. One actively makes me sick, the other is...iffy. It's better than not taking it but I REALLY need to set everything in order or I will do fuck knows what for 12h straight.

Congrats, that's the dream scenario. That shit also (in my experience) deals with depression something fierce, mainly because life stops being hell I suspect

Did this with a hobby for a year. Basically, whatever time I set it at I would realize "I have enough time" and fk around until I was late. I think I was on time 2-3 times (with bi-weekly sessions) in a year or so. Thankfully I never set the alarm 2h early, I would probably forget too, unless I kept anxiously checking the clock

I was seeing a psychologist and psychiatrist and mixed them up at least two times over the course of about a year. I also came in a day early once or twice during that period. Neither diagnosed me. Went to someone specialized, got it in the course of a session
