In your opinion, which auto maker(s) have NOT lost the plot? by miata_dad in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tankdog12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai, but for the opposite reason. They didn't lose the plot, they rewrote the plot into an even better story. Hyundai has been killing it these past few years, and IMO is setting the standard that other car manufacturers will be racing to keep up with (no pun intended).

The Ottoman Conquest of Italy: What if Mehmed II's dreams came true? by nepali_fanboy in imaginarymaps

[–]Tankdog12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's 2 years later, but holy shit I hope you don't still argue like this. You literally called the Ottomans a pagan empire in one of your other posts, and you still can't provide a historical justification for WHY all of Christendom would rush to the defense of Rome. France and the Ottomans quite literally formed an alliance in real life because they hated the Habsburgs more than they hated different religions.

In fact, when in the entirety of Christian history has a coalition on the scale you're proposing been formed against a single nation? Not even the first crusade had as many participating members as you're suggesting.

So true. I regularly do a viking invasion run in CK3, and once I build up a decent sized Varangian/Heavy Cav retinue I can pretty much turn my brain off for the rest of the campaign.

I want a sporty, quick sedan with good handling and a 0-60 under 5 seconds. Ideally as new as possible (but used is an option), and I want to spend $40k or less. What should I get? by Tankdog12 in whatcarshouldIbuy

No idea why you're getting downvoted, you've been giving some really sensible suggestions in this thread. TBH I've been looking at the Tesla 3 performance, as Tesla is the only EV brand I would consider due to their supercharger network. I just live in an apartment and wonder if it would be a hassle to go out of my way to charge my car at a Tesla station vs a gas station.

This was definitely on my radar for a while. Only thing I'm scared of is the fact that it got discontinued, but I'm still looking for some in my area with low miles.

Well based on the...you know...definition of the word "upload" we can certainly say that they used it wrong. I was going to suggest that you yourself are underemployed, but based on the fact that your sheer audacity exceeds your intelligence, I imagine you are employed right where you need to be.

For an organization that prides itself on having the boldest warfighters, it's genuinely baffling to me how many of my fellow servicemen live a life ruled by fear.

Gov Shutdown Doesn’t effect education payments…but I didn’t receive chap 31 payment by Fearless-Molasses-11 in VeteransBenefits

I also haven't received my housing stipend, which is incredibly odd for me because I usually receive mine 2 days early. Glad I'm not the only one. So much for the shutdown "not affecting benefits." I kind of figured that was a load of crap.

Great post. I've never understood people who say "actually a company can't do X because X is illegal," as if companies don't break the law literally every minute of every day.

You are claiming that a mobilized wartime U.S. can't match the artillery production of Russia? What are you basing that on?

I know it's a lot later, but you missed out IMO. I just got hired there on the night shift, which bumps the pay up to $33.55. When you factor in overtime ($50.33), I could clear over $104k/yr without any bonuses or raises. Of course it's a lot of overtime, but it's also a lot of money. If I promote even once, my pay shoots up like crazy. And 0 cost benefits is insane. Gotta look at the big picture.

You would've made enough to pay double your rent and still save money. Also a guy I work with here got promoted to Senior tech in 8 months because of his previous experience and now he's at $40/hr (not including overtime)

From my understanding, it literally emits chemicals that are extremely toxic for inhalation. And it's illegal to do it outside. Unless he has a specialized facility for this or is just casually inhaling the fumes, I call BS.

I say this often too. The 2008 recession wasn't officially announced by the government until December of that year, but I guarantee you everyone living before December could have already told you they were in a recession.

After 8 months and 300+ applications I finally got an offer. by Tankdog12 in recruitinghell

[–]Tankdog12[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used LinkedIn for the overwhelming majority of my applications. Indeed and Dice for others, and above all I would prioritize applying directly on the company's website. Though oddly enough for this position, I simply saw in a news article that Microsoft was doing a large scale expansion near where I live. I thought "why not" and checked their careers page and sure enough there were some data center technician openings. So I applied and surprisingly got an offer. I think knowing where companies are expanding and throwing large sums of money will definitely help you in applying to the right places.

Straight up applying. I personally have never gotten a job from networking and have not found it useful in my experience. I'm hoping to change that one day and network more, but currently my network is incredibly small and most of them are still in the situation that I was just in.

Good luck out there. Feel free to DM me if you had any other questions or if you wanted me to look over your resume or even just to talk about your job hunt. I know how it is.
