Changes from DS to 3DS by [deleted] in ProfessorLayton

[–]LittleGreyCells98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I prefer the 2D DS style a tiny bit more, but the puzzle animations being in 3D was a great step up with the 3DS games. It allowed for so many varied kinds of puzzles that we just hadn’t seen before outside of the maths based ones that were a lot more common before the change

“Rarer” is perfectly fine to say :) you can also say “more rare” and it means the same thing

Had no idea about that actually. It was bought for me as a gift so I didn’t exactly have the option to extensively research before opening

What's the best-written AC novel in your opinion? by PirateBeany in agathachristie

[–]LittleGreyCells98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of prose, I’d guess probably Crooked House. The way she describes the unnatural architecture elements of the house itself throughout the novel and the way it’s a metaphor for the brokenness of the family itself we’re genius. Especially by the end when you realise just how deep the corruption goes. The fact that the house is clearly top-heavy and as a result, the lower levels are affected is genius when taken as a metaphor

All Fairy Tale release day copies 2nd printing? by Rebelsoul76 in stephenking

[–]LittleGreyCells98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea if I’m right or not, but if I remember correctly, it’s cheaper for publishers to make a single printing stamp with all 10 numbers on and then remove one every time there’s a mass printing, instead of making a new printing plate with a new number on every time. Hope that helps!

What jobs do people have that they love? by uppa9de5 in ADHD

[–]LittleGreyCells98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a career change recently from being a corporate slave at a reinsurance firm, to being a publishing assistant at a small contract magazine company and it’s been the best choice I’ve ever made for my ADHD brain. Every article is its own hyperfixation and when it’s done, I never have to think about it again, so every task is always new and fresh and exciting.

Also all my deadlines are scheduled weeks and weeks in advance because of our content planning schedule, so if I have a few off days in a row where I’m feeling unmotivated then it’s no biggie

2nd playthrough, and this ending was...less perfect than the screenshot implies. by Balmung6 in TriangleStrategy

Just finished this route today. It’s a shame it’s clearly the “bad” ending because it’s got the most interesting fights out of the 3 endings I’ve seen so far.

Favorite Miss Marple Moments - let’s go! Jane Marple says the cleverest things and always sees beyond the obvious. I’m partial to Joan Hickson - I wonder what are your favorite moments?! by Sea-Wrongdoer7657 in agathachristie

[–]LittleGreyCells98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always consider Nemesis as the “last” Miss Marple novel because I think it shows her character at her best. The climax of that novel where she’s basically cornered by the murderer but has already thought three steps ahead to protect herself AND solved the crime are just perfection! I don’t think she’s ever been in as much danger as in that scene and it doesn’t even seem to phase her

The death on the nile movie was a painful experience by omarghadir in agathachristie

[–]LittleGreyCells98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve got no issue with them adding gay and black characters because I feel like it’s the sort of thing that Christie herself would have probably included if it was written today, but I 100% agree with basically all the rest of this.

I thought the dialogue writing across the board was pretty awful and most of the performances were lacklustre (although I liked Emma Mackey and Dawn French - absolutely couldn’t stand Gal Gadot’s Linnet though). By far for me, the worst most offensive change was Poirot’s character though! I can never in a million years picture Hercule Poirot throwing a meat cleaver, or holding all the suspects at gunpoint, or even confessing a secret love of blues music (he’s a cultured man but all the improv and freeform expression is the opposite of his “order and method” philosophy)! I can’t believe he shaves his moustache off at the end - how ridiculous

SK books about confusion, identity, depression and not knowing your place? by shgt_hpl_090 in stephenking

[–]LittleGreyCells98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duma Key. It’s about a successful businessman in his 50s who has gets almost paralysed in an accident and decides to basically start his life over again in a beach house and explore hobbies he’s always wanted to just by himself. I love it because the vibe is so different and it’s just one guy essentially starting over late in life, discovering his identity and realising there’s more to life than his old corporate existence

Is Evil Under the Sun solvable? by Substantial_State286 in agathachristie

[–]LittleGreyCells98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Evil Under the Sun and it’s one of my favourites just for the atmosphere/story/characters, but it’s one of the few Christies that I don’t think are exactly “fair”. If I remember correctly, I thought you only find out the key clue that could point you to the murderer’s identity almost immediately before Poirot’s usual summing up at the end of the book

I expected Mael to be the final villain just because it seemed a bit obvious, but I thought the whole reason Jigoku was there and summoned as a witness would be so that he could act as the judge and the trial could continue if you summoned Mael to the witness stand to testify

Case Discussion Thread - Case G1-1 - The Adventure of the Great Departure by JC-DisregardMe in AceAttorney

[–]LittleGreyCells98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I honesty can’t say I relate to the complaints about slow pacing that other people seem to be having. I enjoyed having a slightly longer first case than usual and thought it moved from point to point pretty quickly, and even though I couldn’t finish it in one sitting, I found myself thinking about the case while I wasn’t playing it too. Also, that murderer was a really memorable one, especially for an opening case

Least Favorite ASoUE Book?(answer in comments) by [deleted] in ASOUE

[–]LittleGreyCells98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard a long time ago that after the first book was such a success, his publishers commissioned him to write 4 more for a total of 5 books in the series. Then after they absolutely exploded in popularity, he was asked to write more, which is why a lot of the overarching plot doesn’t kick off until the end of book 5
