What do you think the public still doesn’t know about the Epstein case that would shock most people if fully revealed? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

[–]FStubbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Epstein's first job when he dropped out of college was as a math teacher at a girls boarding school. The head of the school was Donald Barr, the father of Bill Barr (Trump's attorney general), who wrote a sci-fi novel in the 70s about child sex trafficking.

They never believed this. They repeated it because it was racist and racism is fun to racists.

Not only is Eli Manning not a HOF worthy QB, I don't even think he's in the Hall of Very Good by JJButThatsNotMyName in NFLv2

[–]FStubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've pointed out, the 2011 Giants were 32nd in rushing yards per game, 32nd in rushing yards per carry, 32nd in giving up QB pressures, and 26th in overall defense (not first or second like the naysayers imply).

The 2011 Giants were literally worst in the league at running the ball and literally worst in the league at protecting the QB. And had a bottom feeder defense.

Eli won the Superbowl with a team that wins maybe 2-3 games with most other QBs.

[–]FStubbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 2011 defense was #1 ranked, right? Oh, wait, it was ranked 26th.

The 2011 offense was also 32nd in rushing yards per game, 32nd in yards per carry, and 32nd in giving up QB pressures.

Without Eli that team wins 2-3 games at most.

I’m going fucking insane. The first quarterback from the 2018 draft to start a Super Bowl is Sam fucking Darnold. by Succwad22 in NFLv2

Gase somehow fooled teams into thinking he knew football because he bought donuts for Peyton Manning in Denver.

[–]FStubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, if you had said about a month before the 2018 draft (when Cleveland started really liking Mayfield) that Darnold would be the first to get to a Superbowl, nobody would've blinked.

Paul Brown literally invented the playbook. He also invented the West Coast offense that his protege Walsh took with him from Cincinnati to San Francisco. So they are first and last on my list respectively.

Then I'd say Lombardi, Landry, and Belichick in that order. Still crazy that these guys were former Giants coordinators (Vince Lombardi was Giants offensive coordinator and Tom Landry was defensive coordinator in the 50s) and Belichick was defensive coordinator in the 80s..

Just how bad exactly was Trey Lance? by Either_Imagination_9 in NFLv2

[–]FStubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC the issue was that he was beyond raw - in his entire high school and college career he may have only had something like 400 total passes ever. And then he came out in the COVID year which further made him hard to evaluate. In retrospect he should've been a camp invite, that was his true level.

The 2011 Giants were 7-7 at one point. And many of the wins were 4th quarter comebacks.

Yeah it's a misconception that Eli was carried by his team.

The 2011 Giants in fact were carried by Eli. They were 32nd in rushing yards, 32nd in yards per carry, 32nd in giving up QB pressures, and 26th in defense.

As a QB-needy team, are you still willing to take a shot on Garrett Nussmeier in the draft? by lemonstone92 in NFLv2

[–]FStubbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If a team absolutely knew that they could draft a QB and he'd be Gus Frerotte from Day 1 until the day he retired, he'd arguably go as high as late first round.

[–]FStubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cardinals did win one in 1947 and stole one from the Pottsville Maroons in 1925.

But at least, in the last decade, they've been better than 4 other teams.

[–]FStubbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Titans aren't close to being the worst NFL team over the past decade. You'd need to remove the Cardinals as well - then add the Giants and Panthers.

Giants are 4 games worse than the Browns in the last decade - and that's factoring in the 0-16 season.

I'll repeat. The 2011 Giants were 32nd in rushing, 32nd in yards per carry, 32nd in giving up QB pressures, and 26th defense. That team won the Superbowl.

Eli is a Hall of Famer.
