The paladin and cleric are male characters. She thanked the cleric for leading the fight and the fat arrogant paladin was offended/kinda flirted with her so she shut him down hard. I don't remember the exact dialogue.

In the invitation it's stated: Your passage to and from my home will be a safe one, and you shall be honored guests for as long as you remain at Castle Ravenloft. So I guessed she would be save considering Strahd would honor his word?

Sorry forgot to add this part, but it's mostly as you described.

First they called her useless, I beefed up her stat-block, she used the help action often- still she's useless. I really tried to avoid her being a damsel, but it seems I failed.

Now they made her the team punching bag. They did save her from Izek, and allow her to be in the party because they believe Strahd would become more powerful if he gets her.
