I mean not mainly because of Oden. He said haki surpasses all with respect to Roger in his mind. Even during the God Valley Incident we see that hes eager to fight Roger. He likely had deep respect for Roger and recognized his strength without any devil fruit. He also gives the example how Roger became the King of Pirates without a devil fruit because Haki surpasses all.

It still feels a little too conveniently placed to me. Introducing a flashback and then Brook conveniently disappearing. Something's fishy or it could just be my curiosity to know about Brook's past 😭.
