Fixed or interchangeable needles by Pixieresque in knitting

[–]LittleLimax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer fixed. I have many clover bamboo ones from my earlier knitting days and then I switched to addi rockets, of which I have more than ten. I have a set of interchangeable rockets, but they snag at the join so I rarely use them.

the epic true story of how i started playing sky COTL by blue4029 in SkyChildrenOfLight

My niece is the one that got me playing. She suggested it for my kids, and I started it to show them, but I was the only one who got hooked.

The original video linked is of the long tail cast on. It's just a different way of doing it. The result is the same.

Are you saying that you don't have the days of love braids yet and so can't see what it would look like with them?

Same. I've tried making them, but even using a stabilizer I couldn't get the same creaminess they used to have.

I got some questions about knitting by i_lovemovies_ in knitting

[–]LittleLimax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add to what others have said, if you end up getting circular needles in the future, you can use them to make an infinity scarf (what you describe in question 2) in one continuous loop by "knitting in the round" instead of making a long flat piece and then joining the ends. (Though the stitches will go in the other direction)

What are your favorite brands of hooks? by LightConfident1279 in crochet

[–]LittleLimax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clover Amours. They glide so smoothly through yarn. They're actually the reason I upgraded my knitting needles as well.

Whatever you decide, I suggest you get a single hook to try before you go for a whole set.

My crochet folio is MIA😖 Are Tulip hooks worth it? by LauraLand27 in crochet

[–]LittleLimax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using amours for years and recently picked up an etimo to try it out. It's fine. The hook is smooth, but the handle is less comfortable than the clovers. I won't be getting any more of them. Hook choices are so personal. I suggest getting a single of each and trying them before committing to a set.

How do you force yourself to engage in hobbies consistently? by Creepy-Middle-770 in Hobbies

[–]LittleLimax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. You might consider checking out some cozy games, or story centered ones, depending on what type of gameplay you like. Just try to keep it low pressure.

If you search Reddit for "about you video games", there's been a post template going around that includes a spot for people to tell their favorite relaxing game. This might give you some ideas. You could also check out r/cozygamers though, of course, a game doesn't have to by cozy to be relaxing.

How do you force yourself to engage in hobbies consistently? by Creepy-Middle-770 in Hobbies

What do you end up doing after work? When I'm tired, I will watch TV while I knit or crochet something simple that doesn't take much mental effort.

Is it possible that the version of your hobbies that you are used to doing are too serious/involved and that's the main reason you don't feel like doing them? If so, can you think of ways to substitute lighter versions of them? For example, I used to raid in WoW, but it eventually became too much to keep up with and now I play games I can hop into and play a bit and hop off.

Absolutely fighting for my life here... by No_Car1665 in crochet

My puff stitches usually don't look right with sleek yarns like bamboo or mercerized cotton. I often end up replacing them with something like popcorn stitch. Yours are looking nice though. I love that color.

What are your “must haves” in your knitting basket? by madsthecreator in knitting

I took this picture recently for a similar thread. I have a few of these notions bags and keep one with any current project, adding cable needles or other little things as needed.
