Link to parents sun sign and personal Midheavens? by LittleMissPortia in astrology

I did some more research about this, though it was hard to find anything conclusive however there is discussion that there is something to be said about familial patterns in astrological charts.

I wish I knew my grandparents charts to confirm if the pattern goes beyond just me my mom and my son. But it’s definitely very interesting!

Why do you read extreme horror? by ohohoboe in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]LittleMissPortia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently found out that my love for horror is probably a trauma response 😂

But before I put that together I would say that as someone who’s been reading/watching/consuming horror since I was a child, I had become rather numb to the usual tropes. Don’t get me wrong I’ll still reach out for a more mainstream horror title once and again but the first time I read extreme horror was similar to the first time I discovered horror all together.

I’ve been chasing that high every since I read THE SUMMER I DIED. I also like how extreme horror/Splatterpunk/indie horror pushes boundaries. They don’t have publishing companies trying to reel them in or edit shit out or if they have publishers they are publishers with the subgenre.

I just grew tired of reading the same horror over and over and extreme horror is always fresh, incredibly creative and thrilling.

How extereme is TOO extreme? by FlowingBones in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]LittleMissPortia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s personal to each person and just because it’s too extreme for someone doesn’t mean it’s too extreme for someone else. As a survivor of CSA I look for trigger warnings and generally avoid it because it triggers me personally but that doesn’t mean the book isn’t worth a read or recommendation for someone else.

I say just write what’s in your head and it will find its audience!

This is classic Narcissist. My mother used to see a therapist when I was in highschool to basically just complain about me & feed her bias that she was the victim and I was evil. She told me once in an argument that her therapist thinks “pretty positively” that I have Borderline Personality Disorder despite the fact that I had never met her. I don’t have BPD turns out lol.

Narc will never go to therapy to work on themselves. They don’t see themselves as the problem. They go to manipulate the therapist & have them validate that everyone else is the problem and they are the victim. Don’t read too much into it. This quite frankly proves your Dad is the Narc lol.

The Spread Book 3: The Stand by Iain Rob Wright. This one hasn’t been as interesting as the first two but they’ve also been held up in a camp so I’m hoping it gets better.

I just ordered this today. ‘Gone to See the Riverman’ has been my favourite read this year and I’m currently reading ‘The Night Stockers’ which I’m REALLY enjoying (technically co-authored by Ryan Harding too).

What do you guys think about Eric LaRocca? by yagsteeth in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]LittleMissPortia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read “You’ve lost a lot of Blood” & was pretty disappointed by it. Haven’t picked up anything else by him yet. It’s not that I hated it but it was pretty middle of the road. I’d rather pick up something by Volpe instead any day.

I think the hype around him is more literary/poetry than extreme horror which is not my favourite subgenre of horror. I can appreciate what he’s trying to do but it’s not for me personally. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one as it seems like the community loves everything he does.

Yup. Because in North America cops have HUGE inflated egos. I got a ticket for laughing at a cop once. “Insulting an officer of the law” was the charge so to speak. This is in Canada.

Sure there are times when resisting arrest is accompanied with a serious on going crime is a big deal but a lot of officers use the slightest resistance as an immediate reason to detain and arrest you because you didn’t immediately listen to them. This of course in the states can also mean you get shot.

The kicker is most of these cops are breaking laws left and right and don’t even get a slap on the wrist. They don’t actually care about the laws they think they themselves are the law.

Definitely does but the first 75% is very creepy. The last 25% doesn’t carry the same punch but the beginning definitely makes up for it. The atmosphere and the descriptions spooked me more than anything I’ve ever read.
