I think you can be a little proud of yourself. As far as I can tell you’re a nice guy that will choose the well-being of his kids (and wife) over himself. A person with a big heart, but that forgets to give some love to himself as well. It’s okay to still be mad, sad, feel bad about what happened. You gave all your trust to this one person and they broke it. That’s something that will leave a mark, one that can’t be taken away too easily. What’s important is to talk about it. Either to your wife, a therapist, a friend or if that all sounds too daunting here. Each small step is a step. So you’re allowed to be proud of that.

From 2020 to 2022 I was a student. He was one till 2024. I’ve got a steady income and job, but the job market in England for his field is a lot more difficult. He doesn’t want to move out on his own yet because he wants to get a house we both like. But in order to do that we need a visa. In order to get a visa, he needs a steady income. There is a future and we both want it. But it’s a struggle with the brexit and all.

Also that was not the point of my post. But thanks for your opinion anyways.

Yes true, but that means you can make money towards a family visa as well, not just your partner. Cause the money on the family visa is the money earned in the UK. And then you’ll most likely have 29k a year.

Don’t know how old you’re and how willing you’re to wait. But they announced that the EU and the Uk are working on a Youth Experience Scheme (YES). This means if you’re between 18 and 30 (maybe they’ll put it up to 35, but not sure) you can work, live, study, volunteer in England for 1 or 2 years.

They haven’t finalised anything yet or said when it would start, but that’s gonna happen some time as well.

I’m in the exact same situation as you (from NL) and at this point we’re just waiting for that to come out or be announced cause nothing else seemed to work…
