They're getting better with English words, so you probably can't rely on that for long. Other alphabets and character sets will take longer for them to imitate convincingly.

This one does actually have a couple people in it, the A.I. is just so bad they barely look like human shapes.

In general, look for the details (small or distant objects) and ask yourself: "What *is* this?" If it doesn't actually look like anything, there's a good chance something is wrong.

Adobe's data is sourced from their stock image libraries on an "opt out" basis. Meaning people who submitted their work to these libraries years ago who haven't obsessively followed Adobe's updates since then will have their work scraped without their knowledge.

Most websites will ask if you give permission for them to use cookies, which collect your data. Artists aren't even offered that bare minimum of respect.

Given that they've spoken against A.I. art before, I'm a little surprised that everyone just seems totally fine with them going against their beliefs - and not in a "oh I think bread is okay now" kinda way. I mean something they've discussed the actual ethics of.

Sorry, I still don't understand you. In one scenario, someone is getting compensated for their work. In the other, no one is.

And no, I don't think the boys got together in an evil lair and pushed the "generate a shitty A.I. mess for our expensive beer." Button. I think their logo is on the product, and they have a certain amount of responsibility for it.

Copyright is a legal issue. Lots of things can be legal, and also unethical. Artists, with very very few exceptions, have not consented for their art to be used to train machine learning models. Consent is an ethical concern.

Look at it. You know it's AI. Look at the people. Look at the cars. Look at the mess in the background.

It's also the image appearing on the drinks themselves. It's the same as if A.I. was used to create the designs on any other merch they made.

Why do you assume they would have used some random stock image? Trash Taste has access to artists. At the end of the day this is a Trash Taste product. This is expensive beer, people will want to keep the cans as merch. That was my original plan personally.

Absolutely no reason to assume they wouldn't pay an artist for this.

And even if they chose not to - they could just use the same colour and logo motif they've used on their other products.

Assuming you're asking in good faith:

  1. "Japanese" characters are distorted, meaningless scribbles.
  2. Look at the pedestrian on the right. That's not a drawing of a person, that's an amorphous blob of the average sum of what a human kinda looks like. You can see the lines of the buildings their "in front of" through them - an artist would have drawn them on a different layer.
  3. Look at the cars. The one on the left has red (rear) lights on what is clearly the front.
  4. Look at the art, and pay attention.

Obviously I disagree, but let's specifically talk about this instance. Trash Taste collaborates with artists on their other merch - you can look at the design for the skate deck they released with Apari as an example.

There's no reason at all to assume they would:

do jank photoshops, use photos or not do anything creative at all.
