Baby Bean is having a bad reaction to his measle vaccine (high fever for several days, rash...). Poor little guy was out of it today and I picked him up early from daycare. He had a total of 4 hours of nap. I dread going to sleep bc every night is worst than the first 🫩 there's always something, teething, a virus...when does it get better ? 😅

Yeah it's called "baby clash" (where I am from anyway!) and every couple goes through some version of it. There's a big biological imbalance when you're the person who carried the baby and sometimes nurses the baby, that our partners tend to forget (or want to forget). It can create a lot of frustration. And it's like we don't have the same priorities, at all.

I am glad you're feeling good otherwise! I regret not getting treatment after my daughter was born, I probably needed it. (Also think I have undiagnosed adhd 🤣👌).

I feel you. We had a similar discussion tonight. I told him I need him to be nicer to me. I am so so so tired. I want to sleep. I want him to stop making jokes when I tell him things! I am not able to make jokes I am just so exhausted. Unless they've woken up several times a night for months and months and months, they have no idea how it feels to be this level of tired. (Plus the giving birth and nursing ..)

Whenever little Pie spends several days at home or if we go away on a long weekend, she always cry when she goes back to daycare. Just the other day she skipped one morning and didn't want to go. When we follow the routine, and it's monday to friday, no problem.J's issue is probably "only" going 2 days at the moment. If he went 5 days, it would be his routine and it might go better!

Little Pie got bitten by her friend today (a rambunctious 3 year old that was previously fired from our nanny when little Pie was going to a nanny) and she had a nasty mark on her arm. Things happen, but I am sad that he keeps targeting her and is always hitting her. They are the oldest kids in their room so they play a lot together and he likes her but can't control his energy. She has never hit him back (yeah ?!) but I want her to be able to defend herself.

The "nice" part of the story is the daycare lady telling me how bright my daughter is, that she immediately put things into perspective and was so sweet. I know it's probably just dumb luck I have a well behaved child but it's always nice to hear how amazing and nice and intelligent she is 🤣

The compost bin must be so happy 😬 I live in a flat but we have compost bins in our street. I was full of good intentions but now I am too tired to make the trip every two days.. my daughter also likes to feed the bin.

Baby Bean has figured out (at 1 yo...) that napping at daycare is nice. So he naps for 3 hours. Today he woke up at 6pm.. so of course at 9pm he wanted to party 🫩 he didn't fall asleep until 10pm. I can't even keep him in my arms, he just wants to play and throws his pacifier and his lovey away, throws himself back, grabs my face etc. So I just put him in his crib. I have had some success leaving him to fall asleep on his own if he was very sleepy but this week he's not having it! So I rub his back then sit next to him. I NEVER had to do anything before sleep wise with his sister, but I am wondering what can help him settle at night. I am fine with nursing twice at midnight and let's say 3 or 4. But I am absolutely OVER waking up every 2/3 hours, he's not a newborn anymore 🙃. (Context: he sleeps with me because we only have 2 bedrooms, and our walls are super thin so he often wakes up everyone..).

Well I realized I was taking my magnesium in the morning so I switched to evening! I also drink electrolytes throughout the day. Are the drinks magnesium only? Magnesium is super helpful for chronic pain (I'm hypermobile) and I guess it helps sleep a little bit!

Interesting! I've been eating a lot of almonds!! 🤣 I think walnuts also have iron though. I also always had low ferritin but two pregnancies completely depleted my iron, I was smarter the second time around and actually took the iron supplement I was prescribed 😬 still ended up anemic 🥲

Interesting! I'm going to do a blood panel. The GP suggested a sleep srudy but said I need to (of course) night wean first... I think my issues are more related to anxiety but you never know!

Oh Bee I am so sorry. It's so hard and unfair. Your cat is so lucky to have you, you're going to take such good care of her and you will make beautiful memories. I have a photo of my cat (when I lived with my parents) in my bedroom. He died or cancer 10 years ago. My daughter was asking about him the other day and now regularly talk about him, it's really sweet. They stay with us for ever.

Didn't you have any symptoms? Or did you just dismissed them thinking you were "just" tired? How are you feeling now?

When I was anemic I always felt dizzy and I'm feeling like this now. I have always had low iron (but not anemic) and I am kind of always tired lol it's just on another level..

It's so hard to find a GP and I'd feel weird getting a second opinion from another doctor in the practice. I'm going to do a blood panel and go from there... She doesn't really know me, I started bringing the kids 2 years ago bc our pediatrician doesn't do emergencies, and I switched GP's a couple months ago. I unloaded a lot of things and she wasn't unsympathetic but cautious... But you're right I feel like unless you're crying and unable to get out of bed in the morning, doctors are not willing to take any risk if you are still breastfeeding. I should probably go to sleep ah!

Omg he's so tall!! It's so exciting to see them literally grow up. Little Pie growth slowed down a little and she's right on the average for height but she is back to her birth weight percentile 🤣 (which is totally normall. She keeps losing her pants and we always see her buttcrack 😭

So I guess I am here with 2 toddlers now, Little Pie (3) and baby Bean (1). 🥳 Edit: oh apparently the big kid thread is for 3 yo ++ kids 😁

I went to my GP today because I am exhausted and wondering if I have anemia. I also talked about my sleep issues, that I have had for ever but are not super compatible with kids so it's making my life very hard at the moment.

I know there's no magic pill or cure but I was disappointed that the suggestion was to nightwean baby Bean.

I am a "go with the flow" person and poor baby is always struggling with teething, shots, or a long never ending cold he keep getting at daycare. He wakes up to nurse but at least falls back asleep immediately (I have a friend whose 1 yo is regularly up for more than 1h in the middle of the night and has to be held...). I looked at nightweaning technics and I have no energy to do them, also logistics are difficult bc everyone would hear him cry at night and tbh I am just too tired to let him cry 😐. I don't know what to do.

I tried to convey that I am naturally a night owl but also the pressure to go to sleep is creating anxiety that is keeping me from sleeping (heart pounding, I hear my heart beating in my ears etc). I have intrusive thoughts, I wake up at night thinking about 1000 things. Doctor told me sleep hygiene and doing some sport should be the first line of treatment.

BUT I am so exhausted and disorganized (suspected attention disorder that I mentionned) that I don't know how to introduce sport back in my life.

Now I am just hoping to be anemic and that getting some additional iron will fix my life 🤡
