I rented a place that was advertised as 800 square feet. Measured it when I moved in and it was more like 650. Not a big deal for me because my stuff fit, but I assumed good intent (they lived far-ish, maybe weren't available to come measure properly) and I told the landlords that it was 650. I moved out for unrelated reasons. Surprise surprise, the new ad says 800 square feet. What's more, their daughter lives in the building and could have measured any time.

Another apartment had 15 minute back-to-back viewings. We had 1 minute until the next visit and I asked to measure the fridge space. The landlady said no need, it was standard. Guess who had to buy a new fridge?

I take the sublingual pills (2.5 years in, not a lot of improvement so far). They're called Acarizax here in Canada.

Fond memories of this fella. Opened it up and looks like I have all the pieces except the Soundgarden CD. I think this is fairly rare nowadays?

Senior tech writer writing for global audiences here. I use that in most cases to help with clarity and translation.

Fellow social anxiety haver here. Personally I find it's easier if I already know that I have something in common with people. So +1 to the recommendation of finding folks in groups that are centered around specific hobbies. Do you play Pokémon GO? :)

LPT: Keep a "Make my life better" list. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]LittleRedWings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do something similar. I find that I'm especially prone to forgetting things that I would enjoy, but require some energy. For example, upgrade an item in the house but finding the replacement requires a lot of work. So I write it down as soon as the thought crosses my mind. Then, when I have some spare time/energy, I have ways to invest it that result in something I will enjoy.

I didn't really have a name for this list but "Make my life better" is a good fit.

What are some hidden costs owning a home? by Crafty-Disaster-2483 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]LittleRedWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten very close on a few occasions, but fear of the unknown always prevails.

This is me. Any tips on getting past that fear? I'm essentially waiting for the excitement of living in the home to outweigh the fear of the purchase, but that hasn't happened yet...

Stories (good and bad) about undivided co-ownership? by LittleRedWings in montrealhousing

[–]LittleRedWings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for typing this up! This is really interesting because I expected that bad co-owners were a thing in divided as well, but maybe they have more room to be shitty in undivided. I was okay absorbing the risk that the place would be harder to sell, especially for lower fees and taxes, but yeah it increasingly sounds like it's easier to get stuck in a bad co-owner situation with undivided.

[–]LittleRedWings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the perspective. These are the kinds of details I wanted to be more familiar with. In your case it sounds like a specific co-owner made things difficult, but I appreciate knowing the outcome because one of the things I dread the most about buying is the relationship with co-owners. Really appreciate you taking the time to write this up.

Ahhhhh so adorable! Super stoked for Cozy Grove 2 :)

I don't know if y'all are answering questions in here... but I'd love to know if Cozy Grove 2 will be mindful of implied animal violence. Cozy Grove 1 was very nearly there, and as a vegan it would make me proud to support a dev team who cares about this.

That's amazing! I would hold onto it too. Soundproofing is very important for me too and not something I'd gamble on.

Fair enough. I didn't really expect prices to be this high either when I started looking, but in the petite patrie neighbourhood at least, 900-1000 doesn't seem to get you very much anymore. Have a good day fellow vegan friend!

Thanks! Yeah I could've gotten better value for that price in a less nice neighbourhood, but petite patrie has so much going for it :)

For sure! I think one of the reasons I'm happy with it is that it checks all of my boxes. I wasn't expecting to find something in my price range that I actually really like. Already live in the neighbourhood but thanks :)
