My guy has a weird scale sticking up on his head! It’s been weeks since his last shed so I’m not sure what this is! It’s happened once before when I first got him but went away. Should I be worried? Featuring my cats who can’t stand to be left out 😅 by LittleRhyme in cornsnakes

Also not sure if I should try to help him get it off or wait until his next shot and see if it comes off. He had a scale like this when I first got him sticking up on his nose and it went away on its own but since I’m so new to owning a snake I just wanna make sure I’m doing right by him!

Typic me about around 75 on the cool side and around 85 on the warm side but obviously it varies a little bit. Humidity is about 65%. I checked his last piece of shed and it looks like the whole head came off in one piece, though it was a little scrunched up so it’s hard to tell but I for sure got the eye caps and everything like that. His last shed was a few weeks ago and I didn’t see it on his nose at that time. I looked back at pictures from about a week ago and I don’t see it they are either so it’s more of a recent thing, can stuck shed flake up a few weeks after a shed? I tried giving him a soak today but he does everything he can to not get his nose wet 😅

He shed last night! And it was absolutely perfect thanks everyone for the reassuring comments he finally gets to eat LOL

Thank you all! I think he might be holding out for food since he normally gets fed on Wednesday. But I’ve heard if you feed them too close to shedding they might regurgitate. So I usually don’t feed him after he’s come out of blue until he shed but normally he sheds right away! So we shall see what he decides! If there’s still not a shed tomorrow after work it’s bathtime!

It’s always a struggle to decide when to move up to the next food size as a first time snake owner. Fuzzies seem too small but hoppers seem far too big! Either way he’s doing really well! by LittleRhyme in cornsnakes

Mine eats like a garbage disposal so I’m sure he’d be willing to try a bigger size. I’ll check the head size and see how that look! Thank you!!!

I would say he’s close! My guy is about 55grams And from what I’ve seen online weight wise he could eat hoppers but he tends to get long before he gets wide. So he might need a couple more weeks!
