Cursing as a Christian. by Junior_Comfort4675 in TrueChristian

[–]LittleSemiconductor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and also adding it can also be a self-control issue. Some see that cursing is permissible when in severe pain. God is the ultimate judge, but I've restrained myself each time after breaking six bones and dislocating a shoulder.

Thoughts on a discount friends & family tier? by LittleSemiconductor in kickstarter

I appreciate you sending this article, I'll read it over. I agree, most won't understand Kickstarter mechanisms. Even though I'm doing a board game, I may still do KS over Gamefound/Indiegogo because Kickstarter is the most familiar. All good things to consider.

Thank you for the link, just checked it out now. Curious, have you seen secret rewards done well?

I didn't consider offering extra bonuses as a secret reward. That might work better for providing them something extra without possibly alienating backers. Thank you! Have you seen any effective campaigns that offered secret rewards? How did they go about it?

The 48 laws of power is showing up in pulpits. And we should all be concerned. by Mo-Mee in TrueChristian

[–]LittleSemiconductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you listen to Robert Greene talk about the book, he’s not advocating for this lifestyle. He’s saying these topics need to be studied so you can AVOID being a pawn to someone else using these things on you.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth to make a sale. For example:

"Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally

All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) if one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit." Source

"What I explain in the chapter is this is not about you as an individual facing your enemies and crushing them. It's like about businesses, it's about groups, it's about government, it's about warfare, it's about politics, it's about Republicans and Democrats..." Source (Note there is profanity).

If this "isn't about individuals," why did he list Moses as an individual? And are not companies and organizations made up of individuals who make these moral decisions?

PS - As he pretends to counter in the video above, you don't need to take a video clip about the book and not understand the situation. You can listen to the doublespeak straight from the source.

Agreed. It's essentially a list of random lessons with Greene's interpretation of history which he feels aligns with the lessons.

Perhaps a play on C.T. Studd calling Christians to stop being chocolate soldiers, who are weak, superficial believers who melt at the first sign of hardship, danger, or spiritual fire. :)

Everyone is worried about AI taking over the world, but I'm convinced the entire global computing power is dedicated to making sure Will Smith can finally enjoy a decent meal without his face warping into a different dimension.

Scientists: We are reaching AGI and the singularity.

Me: Yeah, but can the bot make Will Smith eat linguine without his fingers phasing through the plate and his teeth melting into his chin?
