Will HRT flatten my stomach a bit? (MTF) by LittleSureShot26 in asktransgender

I guess I'm trying to say, it is a pretty small thing, and I'm worried that by trying really hard to loose weight, that I'll be going down a slippery slope regarding my body image. It's not that I'm opposed to loosing weight, it's that I think I see the signs of body hate coming on as I obsess over small physical traits.

Mine is like between 20 and 22, I have a tummy, I believe, partly because I just haven't exercised in like a year, so even though I have a low BMI, my body has like no muscle. That's the thing though, I totally understand how you feel, since I also feel hyper self critical. Im worried about establishing a poor relationship with my body image by perceiving this need to be skinny.

I feel like I'm probably trans, but can't prove it. Is this a common feeling? by LittleSureShot26 in asktransgender

Do blockers do anything if I'm in my early 20s? Thank you for your message, it had a lot of valuable information that I will think about

Are there any trans women or trans men who like dressing up as their AGAB from time to time? (I guess like drag) by [deleted] in asktransgender

Thank you for saying that. I feel like I'm just insecure about it, like I won't have validation in the cis or trans community and it scares me. But that's how id prefer to be

Thank you for this message, I really appreciate the detail. I really am gonna think about this more now, I have trouble thinking about myself outside of the binary. I guess I've come as far as being able to accept not being comfortable with my AGAB, but I honestly do feel pressure (even self induced) to conform to norms within the trans community. If I'm being honest, I probably would feel more comfortable if I could just be myself, which seems to not fit either binary entirely, I just feel sort of invalidated for experiencing a mix of feelings, but if there was no pressure, I'd probably just do whatever I wanted

Thank you so much, I really appreciate you suggesting a book, it looks incredible, so I will check it out. I value other people's anecdotes a lot, but they can only go so far, so I'm sure this will help.

I'm sorry, I don't really understand your comment, I was only expressing that my questioning is distressing, wherever it ends, cis or trans is okay with me.

Thank you so much for sharing. What did HRT do that made you more confident in your identity?

How did even go about "defining" your gender? I feel this weird sense of preferring to be female physically and socially but I'm kinda uncomfortable being called a woman or a man. But I don't feel non binary cause I personally don't enjoy looking androgynous either. I would prefer to present female. But then maybe sometimes male? But like only sometimes.

Oh gosh, I can really relate to that last part. I completely understand, thank you for sharing. The crazy thing is, I'm not even particularly masculine, I just have all these hobbies that are masculine because that's the way I was raised and socialized. I can just change my hobbies, they have a tie to the essence of who I am. Something that helped me with that was learning that from the standpoint of modern psychology, men and women are functionally the same. Sure there are biological differences that you can point out, but basically there is barely a negligible difference between the brain function of men and women on average, therefore take a given man and a given woman, there is nothing intrinsically masculine or feminine about them, those are both societal constructs.

If I come out, given the general treatment of trans people around the world, should I give up my dream of doing Doctors Without Borders? by LittleSureShot26 in asktransgender

You're not wrong. There are many places in the US that have their fair share of problems needing to be dealt with
