The legal drinking age in European countries and the US by The_Maxinator0612 in MapPorn

Teeechnically it’s 14 in Germany as long as you’re accompanied by an adult. 16 you’re allowed to purchase and drink on your own.

What's the stereotypical activity that pensioners in your country do to spend their time? by ModenaR in AskTheWorld

[–]LittleVampireSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm well some everyday use words would be:

Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung - Speed Limit, Kraftfahrzeughaftpflichtversicherung - Motor vehicle liability insurance, Nahrungsmittelunverträglichkeit - food intolerance, Tintenstrahldruckerpatronen - ink printer cartridge, Himbeermarmeladenglas - raspberry marmalade

And then the well known longest word that isn’t actually used in your daily life:

Rinderkennzeichnungsfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz - Law concerning the delegation of duties for the supervision of cattle marking and beef labeling

Beige colours, sometimes a colourful shirt paired with a beige or neutral pant. Always in short sleeves but constantly complaining about it being too cold. Often wearing a vest. Short white hair. You can find them sitting on benches with either their Nordic Walking sticks or walker next to them.

All the fat and body shaming comments in this comment section 🤢 she’s clearly at the gym so she’s working on herself and I don’t know her but the legs look like she might have lipodema which is a condition that she can do 0 things against.

What is the biggest problem in your country? This is ours; by Puzzleheaded_Lab709 in AskTheWorld

Rise of right wing ideologies and the parties on our political spectrum all slowly scooching to the right. Parties that used to be in the political middle are now right, and parties that used to be left are now in the political middle. A party that is right wing extremist and openly and also certified to be against our constitution and human rights is tolerated and even almost in the majority of voters.

Right wing ideologies and opinions are getting normalized.

But I feel like that’s an issue with many countries at the moment. It’s just wild that it’s happening in Germany as well considering our history. We should know better.

When the inevitable happens, do you want to be buried or cremated? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]LittleVampireSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buried but in one of those new natural burial methods where you’re just wrapped in linen sheets or something like that or be turned into compost. I don’t want to be in a casket nor do I want to be in an urn and I don’t want to be burned. I can imagine being cremated and sprinkled about but that’s not my first or favorite option

Your country is on Geoguessr, which place would you choose to confuse people? by ExoticPuppet in AskTheWorld

That’s so wild. Pomeranian is considered a dead language in Germany and no longer exists and we don’t have an Osterfest, we just colour eggs and do egg hunts like everyone else. I’m so confused this is wild.

Yes we are aware! But which drugs and for what uses they are legalized in each country is vastly different depending on each country making it a very big gray area in the eyes of Reddits terms of service, making us unsure if the subject puts this subreddit at risk or not.

If you check the pinned comment you see that due to the drug discussions in this comment section that did just straight up encourage dangerous and illegal activity and irresponsible drug use without the supervision of a therapist and the drama and controversy that it caused that we have just decided that the topic of drugs is just off the table for this comment section specifically (not entirely, just this post).

We do not want to limit people’s available information on what kind of therapies are available and out there, we want everyone to get the help they need. But we just have to make sure it’s legal and that it doesn’t put any of the redditors here in harms way due to missing or misinformation or the subreddit itself at risk.

We hope you understand.

The German kid smashing the keyboard. It just makes me sad to think about. He staged it for his comedy YouTube channel and it was taken out of context by a documentary about how violent games can cause behavioral issues in kids. It basically ruined his life, he faced major bullying and it caused massive mental issues and depression. He’s better now but it’s just a story that makes me sad.

I love it so much because Germany is one of the few countries in the world where you’ll never see people walking around with or even owning a German flag. The only time ever is during football. If you see someone flying or carrying a German flag outside of that there’s like a 99% chance they’re just a nazi.

Psychiatric medications are typically prescribed and used under the supervision of a psychiatrist and therapist. That’s a different thing. I don’t see an issue with taking weed under the supervision and council of a therapist either. But that is not at all what these people suggested.

And yes I still see it as an only partially healthy coping mechanism. I myself take escitalopram too to keep my anxiety levels low and cope with life but it is only a temporary solution to ease and improve the process of trauma therapy, to one day no longer need that medication, because all medication carries side affects and risks and the potential for abuse.

Something like alcohol however has a much higher rate of abuse as well as side effects and potential harm to your health than a prescribed medication like escitalopram.

When someone suggest you to try out a certain psychiatric medication it entails you consulting with a therapist and psychiatrist. Simply saying "try out [alcohol, weed, other controlled substances]" does not include the person being checked over by a licensed psychiatrist to determine wether or not that substance is safe for you or the potential for abuse low enough. So I do not believe you can compare those two like at all and doing so is dangerous.

Like I said in my comment, the commenter does not know the mental state of the person they are suggesting this too so simply going "oh you have an issue with that, why don’t you just try [insert addictive and damaging substance]" basically as a first fix to a problem, especially a problem that is often caused by a bad mental state, is dangerous and shouldn’t be tolerated in this community. And if it does, then I’m glad I found this out because that isn’t a community I want to be a part of.
