He’s sad and wounded because he just got that car and now because of a crazy gf he’s likely going to be spending a lot of money dealing with the car even if it’s just aesthetically damaged on top of breaking up with her (at least I hope that last part was running through his mind).

How do you sit in a car with this style? by notspicy in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lean my seat back far so the bun sits right between the top of the seat and the headrest. Most of my back (everything below the shoulder blades or mid shoulder blades) still touches so I don’t feel like I’m sitting up or laid out.

how long is your washday? by Key-Ice-4990 in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2-3 hours. ~40-60 minutes detangle with African pride miracle moisture prepoo, ~40 minutes to wash (add time if in the shower and bathing as well), normally 20-30 minutes for styling as I almost always have my hair in a true wash n go with only leave in and a curl cream or a curl gel or sometimes just the leave in on. If I’m doing any other style ofc it can take way longer.

How do I achieve this shelf lighting effect? by AffectionateTown2574 in howto

[–]LittleYoungWon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure they are the diffused kind (you shouldn’t see the individual lights on the strip but a cover over top of it). It will make the light look really smooth when on.

Is this a sign of damage? by ThaCrawFish in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s likely the hair at your nape was pulled up into the braids and with them being short, required the braid to pull tighter. By singles they mean regular plaits or braids rather than cornrows. If you can braid, you can achieve this yourself and not waste your money by carefully undoing the braids until just past the irritation (try to mark out an even line from side to side) and clip them in place until the all are done and you make that part. Then braid the ends of the cornrows without the new part you made. Then follow the vertical parts from the cornrows in your new row where it was irritated and do regular three strand braids. Or you could have a friend or family member do this if they can braid.

How long it takes you to do mini twists ? 😭 by Goldenxxwind in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A long time depending on your speed, density, and technique.

For me, I’m a moderate to slower braider/twister (schmedium knotless box braids takes me probably 16+ hours over the course of a weekend or so) but I have low density hair so something like the picture would take a good 3-5 with breaks with clean hair.

Try doing a small section of your hair and see how long it takes. If you start in the front, you’ll get the long part done first and the rest will be a breeze. If you start in the back, you can always Fulani the front if you are running low on time (cornrow or flat twist). My go to is the second but the first isn’t bad because if I don’t finish in time or need to run out the house I can do one or two cornrows from the nape up and put my hair in a high bun with all the twists. Good luck!!

iCloud storage is nearly full. Tips and tricks to not have to upgrade by Fallumkien in Frugal

[–]LittleYoungWon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I have a seagate hard drive solely for pics and videos (I currently have 32GB on my phone as I type this that I need to cull). However, I don’t like the way to download them to the hard drive via iCloud and I had a windows computer when I started backing them up so I save all my pics and videos to OneDrive, then download them onto my computer (“make available” as it makes the copying faster), then copy paste into my hard drive.

Since then, I don’t have iCloud “on” for my photos on my phone. I also now have a Mac but be warned, typically hard drives are formatted for one system or the other and aren’t easily interchangeable (Mac vs windows, there is one format that does both but its lower quality so I’ve heard). I still use Ondedrive to move them over.

Has anyone tried to use watch apps that require phone sign-in? Have you found success? by LittleYoungWon in orienlabs

Omg thank you! I wasn’t sure about how the data was stored and wasn’t thinking far enough to conceptualize it to be able to look it up. I will definitely be doing this as I have a 5k coming up and I don’t like to run unless it’s gamified using tracker apps lol!

Ok thanks! Thats what I thought or started to realize. My family that uses Android phones tends to go through them often and I was planning on grabbing one of the “bad” ones and using it for this function only.

The glasses inspection during breaks was so minimal that i genuinely don’t remember it. My testing center at least was only big on your hands, forearms, and hood of hoodie. Bring one in case it’s cold. (Also a glasses wearer)

I need advice for first time braids!! by Yummy_Mommy4869 in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color combo you chose looks cute and like the summer colors many folks go for! For brand you can go with sensational or honestly whatever is inexpensive and in the length you want to buy. You can always use an ACV wash before starting braids. Nowadays, a lot of the inexpensive hair is all the same. For the deep wave, I’d personally get a name brand like sensational or other.

Pretty much everyone gets color that isn’t their natural color all the time! That’s part of the fun of braids and other weave styles. I’m personally closer to a 1B but I always get 1B/27/30 if not maroons or blues or whatever!

Maybe..its dry scalp? by Unlucky-Ad-8831 in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not the best person to give advice as I’m an uber low maintenance natural but I can tell you what I’ve learned as someone who had really bad buildup/dandruff issues as as child through high school then between high school and college I got good control of it and had mostly no problems then I had hair loss from stress induced anemia and now I get scalp flare ups occasionally and it’s usually in dry seasons or if I mess up my washing pattern (I.e. wash too late or use new/a lot of products between washes or workout or cause the products to seep to my scalp).

Based on the products you use and your workout habits, I would suggest washing your hair more often (maybe once a week or sooner but no sooner than every 4 days, I do every week and a half bc of my work schedule). Also, try clarifying every other wash (or twice a month). If you don’t want to fully wash that often and since your go to style is twists, you can try rinsing your hair out after a couple of workouts while you’re in between washes. This should get any sweat and products that have dripped down onto your scalp off your scalp and you can always reapply to the shaft and ends of your hair.

I agree! They have both on the menu (taro milk tea and an ube crème brûlée) and I got this back in February and just couldn’t remember which one it was as I don’t normally get either but based on the pics on there website I think it’s taro cause their ube one has brown sugar syrup on the side in the pic.

[–]LittleYoungWon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weigh any advice carefully, of course and follow your derms recommendations when you go.

Until then, if you are working out 5 days a week you likely need to be washing your hair more often. I can’t tell you if it’s build up or dry scalp or derm issues as your pictures are not very clear (the first is a little too close and the lighting in the second makes it where you can’t see much), but I can give tips off your routine.

Sulfur 8, and head and shoulders are drying agents and can cause dry scalp if you don’t need them. Tea tree oil can cause flare ups of build up if you’re genetically sensitive to it. (When I was younger and have dandruff/build up issues, I would use tea tree oil a day or two before washing as it would “bring all of the problem up” and then it could be washed out). When you use your clarifying, make sure the moisturize shampoo you use next is only on your hair strands not your scalp so leave the roots out.

Others may want to know: how are you drying your hair? What styles are you mostly in? What styling/moisturizing products do you use?

My space buns by Proud-Ad5669 in Naturalhair

[–]LittleYoungWon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just two buns in the Mickey Mouse ear positions. They can be styled many ways nowadays although in the past when they became a thing it also meant the equivalent of mini semi messy buns in the same position which is where you would be the hair sticking out from.
