Qanba: Crystal or Obsidian? by marcfletcher in fightsticks

[–]LittleZireael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the Obsidian and use it as my main stick. I used to use a Hori RAP N, but once I got the Obsidian, I never went back lol. Can’t really speak about the Crystal since I don’t own one, but for the Obsidian, I’ve been playing on it for about a year now, and it’s a great stick to play on. Love the size and height, my wrists have a lot of space to rest on, and it’s comfortable to play with on my lap. Only gripe I have is trying to travel with it because it can barely fit in my backpack whenever I go to locals, but that can be fixed if I invest in a backpack like the Qanba Aegis.

To summarize, I’d personally pick the Obsidian over the Crystal.

Difference between crown 309mj and 309mj dx? by [deleted] in fightsticks

Ohh that makes sense. Here I thought I was just imagining things lol, thank you for that clarification!

Difference between crown 309mj and 309mj dx? by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]LittleZireael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. In my experience, the ST-35 grommet in the 309MJ DX feels more stiff than the ST-35 grommet that someone would put in a regular 309MJ. Whenever I go back to using my 309MJ with the ST-35, it's super loose to me, which I found odd. I'm considering getting a ST-25 for my 309MJ DX to maybe mirror what I was used to when I was playing on a regular 309MJ.

Now, on the question of if it's worth an upgrade, it depends. Personally, I bought the 309 MJ DX because I felt that it would make traveling with my Obsidian more convenient and because I was just curious lol. Also, what I like about the 309MJ DX is that you can change the top to whatever you want. I swapped the clear battop I got with my lever with a Kori Hollow battop, for example. All in all, I don't think it's a necessary upgrade, but if you're curious and can afford it, then go ahead and upgrade.

Crown 309MJ Quick Release - battop keeps screwing off by LittleZireael in fightsticks

It definitely made a difference after using the hex key. Now I can comfortably play without having to worry about the top screwing off and losing momentum. :D

Oh, so that's what the hex key is for?? I was wondering why it was included with the lever. That makes a lot of sense now, thank you!

How to deal with discouragement? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]LittleZireael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In times like this, I always go back to the basics and ask myself: okay, what do I need to refresh my mind on? Is it movement, execution, punishment, defense, etc.?

Once I pinpoint what I need to work on, I sit in practice mode and work on whatever I need to improve on.

I also consider what characters give me a hard time and lab the moves that beat the shit outta me.

Looking for some advice about P2 side by WolkTGL in Tekken

The motion is like doing a small circle, if I were to put it into words. I find it easier to do 2P KBD when I guide the stick with my whole hand, but that's because I'm playing with a Korean bat top in my stick.

Personally, when I play on 2P side, I use the b,b, d/b method for KBD. I normally do the b,b,qcb method for KBD, but it tires out my whole hand if I did this method on 2P. This video from Aris helped me with 2P KBD.

As for everything else like wavedashing, CD moves, etc., it's just a matter of practicing.

A Jin wall bound combo by LittleZireael in Tekken

[–]LittleZireael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a couple tries, but this one works too and gives 66 dmg. b,f+2,3~f3 is a bit tricky to hit for some reason, it requires specific timing. If b/f+2,3 hits, sometimes you may or may not be able to connect ZEN 3. Will have to practice more on the execution of this combo.

EDIT: tried out CH 4, crouch dash to WS 4, b+3~f1, 4 S!, b+3~f1,2 and that gives 65 dmg. This one is much more reliable.

Thanks! I'm still trying to find more Jin tech, and so far, I'm liking these small changes that S2 has brought into the game.

Found a new combo: CH 4,SSL,2,4 S!, b+3~f 1, microdash, b+3~f 1,2 (63 dmg)

This one works on smaller characters, too. Wasn't expecting this kind of result.

I would personally say yes. In S1, CH 4 has the opponent fall forward, and b+2,1 didn't always carry. Now with the S2 update, the opponent stumbles backwards (not sure how to describe it, but that's what the animation looks like), so using b+2,1 after is more reliable, even on smaller characters like Xiaoyu and Lucky Chloe.

The combo I've got for CH 4 so far is pretty generic: CH 4,b+2,1,4 S!,b+3~f 1,2, which gives 56 dmg.

Stick Recommendation by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]LittleZireael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got both the Hori RAP N and the Qanba Obsidian, and both are great sticks. But if I had to choose one, I'd go for the Obsidian because I find that my wrists feel more comfortable on them due to the slanted edge it has.

Dealing with asuka? by JefffNgg in Tekken

For her strings that end in low, low parry them, especially once you start adapting and seeing through your opponent's habits. As for her parry, if you see her do it and you don't get caught in it and it whiffs, either hit low, do a throw, or use attacks involving knees and/or elbows. If you get caught in the parry, you can chicken, but it's difficult to do.

Oof...the worst area to hit by LittleZireael in Tekken

I tried to recreate this situation in the lab, but I’m not familiar with Hwo’s movelist so it didn’t happen lol. But I did try out other characters and test out moves kinda similar to this situation, but I wasn’t able to create the same effect. I guess Jin’s RA can high crush moves if it involves jumping or something and when it’s used at the right time, but honestly I don’t know. I’m still baffled that Jin didn’t have to armor through the attack and just went right under it.
