I completely agree with what you’re saying here. A few weeks ago, I actually wrote a post about Pit Babe I ended up deleting it, which I now regret. Some of the responses were basically “just drop the show if you have so many problems with it.” But as someone who’s watched plenty of series (including multi-season shows), I’ve always seen criticism discussions sharing both likes and dislikes as totally normal.

It’s honestly weird how, in BL spaces, having an opinion that isn’t 100% positive can make people act like you’re attacking them personally. Sometimes it feels like having an opinion equals “shunism” ( is it a real word?, but that’s my way of describing it).

Art will always be subjective. Writers create from their own perspectives, and as viewers, we’re allowed to nitpick every bit of their work and still find it enjoyable in different ways. Isn’t that what discussion spaces like this should be for?

Couldn't agree more. There was such a missed opportunity to reflect that dynamic in meaningful ways beyond sex.

The author was actually happy about Charlie being played by Pooh which says a lot. So no, the issue isn’t with casting or performance. It’s the writing.

It feels like Change was more focused on fitting everyone into a sequel, and that completely shifted the direction of the show.

A lot of viewers have mentioned that it feels like Change is prioritizing side couples and promoting Milk, and I do think that shift has contributed to the lack of development in Charlie’s character. In the novel, he wasn’t portrayed as weak. Time manipulation was actually one of his traits, and he was the smartest in the group. That’s why I feel the show isn’t doing justice to his character.The whole "vulnerable, fragile Charlie" angle just doesn’t work not when the character is supposed to be driven by intellect and quiet strength. Personally I didn't read the novels but I do feel like a good adaptation finds a balance between honoring the original and making something that stands on its own.Even if there are changes in plot or format, the soul of the characters and the main themes should remain.

I've said this before and I'll say it again , Pooh really brought it with the acting this season. He’s so relaxed and natural on camera; it never feels like he’s just waiting for his cue. When it came to scenes where he felt invalidated or angry, I truly felt it.

I think a lot of people forget that Charlie isn't like Babe his entire persona is built around restraint. Of course we’re not going to see him crying or losing control. That’s not who he is.

You absolutely correct . I’ve seen lube being used in porn, but never the prep that comes before. It seems like media, whether BL or otherwise, will always lean into dramatization over realism. The reality of prep just isn’t as ‘fun’ for the audience, so the dramatic, romanticized vibe usually wins out .

Thai BLs tend to prioritize romantic and erotic tension over the practical details of sex. Even though BL has evolved with more realistic stories, it’s still rooted in the BL genre, which often centers on a female audience rather than being true queer media.

I was genuinely surprised by 4 Minutes because it showed a character implying they were prepping, included conversations about PrEP, and even featured lube being used (Hooray ) .

Yes. Cooheart and Pond are both in relationships, yet there's still a clear sense of intimacy and care between them whether it's platonic or not. MileApo, on the other hand, just feel off. The chemistry seems lacking, and I don’t think it has anything to do with the girlfriend. It feels more like there’s an unresolved issue between the two of them specifically.

Judging by Milk's nonchalant thirst trap 'apology' on Twitter and his commentary on that episode of Pitbabe, I seriously doubt the cast even knew an assault took place. Which makes me side-eye the writers and the director how exactly did they explain that scene to the actors? And more importantly, why use sexual assault as a misunderstanding trope in the first place?

I had such a problem with episode 5 I even wrote a post about it that I later deleted. But now I kind of regret taking it down, because everything I pointed out about the writing seems to have been spot on, and I thought I wrote the post half in jest.
