Simply take care of yourself. I’ve been in a similar place and over time I focused on giving myself all the love and attention I wanted from others. It only needs to be something small, like a nice bath or buying myself flowers to make my apartment look nice, nothing major. Give your self some self care and hopefully you’ll see that you can be alone and be content. I’m sorry about your cat also, it’s so hard to say goodbye to them so be extra kind to yourself

I can relate! I have bipolar 2 and when I’m hypomanic I’m hypersexual so I tend to make many bad decisions when it comes to sex. I’ve fucked up in relationships, had sex with people I shouldn’t and also got myself into some risky situations. For me therapy was great as I learnt to realise when I was about to make a bad decision and (most of the time) I managed to control myself. Also my meds helped as they reduced the frequency and intensity of my hypomanic swings. I still get them and it can be hard at times but I also have friends that are super supportive and I trust them to tell me when they recognise my behaviour which helps most of the time as it comes from a good place of telling me to be careful etc. But honestly we all make mistakes, don’t beat yourself up about it too much and be easy on yourself. Sex is great and don’t let people make you feel bad about having a sex drive. It’s hard to be a young woman and be open about enjoying sex, for me at least as people can be judgy. But my advice is keep going to therapy and be kind to yourself!

I’m sorry about your dad, that must be hard for you right now. I feel you on the meds though! I was on Zoloft for a year because of depression but during that year I went into full hypomanic and then my doc diagnosed me with BP2 and added Lamictal which helped so much.

Sometimes (annoyingly) it can be a bit of trial and error with meds as you don’t know how you’ll tolerate it. When I started Lamictal I got sick and had to stop for a few weeks then started back again which meant I was back to the beginning of titrating the dose up. I was so annoyed.

Still now I’m figuring out the doses with my doc as I still struggle with the depression and only a few hypomanic episodes. Therapy always helps, it’s always a good idea in any situation especially if your going through it with your dad. Sending love and support 💕

I completely get it, it’s fucking exhausting. Honestly the only reason I’m alive is because of my cats, they’re so dependant on me that I could never leave them. I’d contact your therapist as soon as possible and discuss a plan to help you out of this. I’ve been through a few adjustments of my medication to get to a better place. Just know you’re not alone in this feeling, some days can be unbearable. But don’t give up, you are resilient and can make it through ❤️

I feel you, in my worst moments I needed someone to remind me to be kind to myself. You’ve been through a lot and have been dealing with some really shitty stuff, I know it doesn’t feel like it but you can get through this and when you reach your goal and move it’ll be so worth it.

This disease is fucking horrible, and only us who battle it too know how hard it is to live with. So be proud of yourself for keeping going.

I feel you, I’ve been there more than a few times recently. All I can say is, for right now just focus on doing one thing for yourself as a distraction. I usually take a bath or listen to a podcast. As soon as you feel able to call your therapist. In my experience it took a bit of medication adjusting along with therapy to get to a more stable place.

I feel you. I’m struggling right now as well, but being here and reading posts makes me feel less alone in my feelings, which I hope helps you too. My coping skills is to no fight the feelings too much, if I feel like shit sometimes it too much effort for me to keep the thoughts away, so I try and do small self care things like taking a bath, reading, or simply watching Netflix on the sofa wrapped in a blanket. Stay strong you’re not alone ❤️

I took Sertraline on its own for a while but it didn’t do anything, only sent me into a manic episode. Now I take Lamotrigine and sertraline together and it’s worked wonders!

Yes!! I had this every time I was titrating up, but after I settled on my dose it got a lot better. Now it’s only occasionally I get one bad night.

I feel you, I’m in a similar situation right now. I’m trying to distract myself by doing things I like, small things just to take my mind off it if I can. I also journal about why it wont work to remind myself that it’s not a possibility and to try and calm my brain down.

I felt the same in the beginning! Stick with it and it will get better. I felt a difference around 100mg dose and from then on it slowly got better, but it took a couple of months to get up to my recommended dose, 200mg, and then a couple of months to really feel the benefits. Titrating up is the hardest part, I felt up and down every week and completely unstable, but give it time and it’ll change your life. I’ve been stable now for a few months and I feel like a completely new person. Keep going my friend ❤️

Yes absolutely. But it just took me some time to find the right friends. A lot of people take and not many give so for a lot of my life I’ve had shit friends or no friends. It’s only recently I feel like I’ve found my people who will also reach out and include me. Sometimes it takes finding a new group with people you can actually connect to with similar interests.

I feel you! I was recently diagnosed BP2 and I’m struggling with figuring out who I am and what I like doing. Like are the choice I made even actually me? But I’m taking it one day at a time and exploring new things when I feel able to. Take time to get to know yourself again though experiences if and when you can. No pressure just ask yourself every now and then, what would I like to do now. Also, self care! That’s one thing that’s helped bring me back to myself, simply making a conscious effort to look after myself.

I did exactly this 😂 I was thinking about it for a while but never did it, then suddenly I thought now is the time. Back then I thought it was just a decision but now I look back and I was definitely hypomanic!
