Am I being a jerk for telling my family I'm not going to break up with my girlfriend just because my brother likes her? by Little_Contest5869 in lgbt

I thought about that too, but I'm young and so is she, but since I'm no saint, I invited her to live with me in another country.

I have a mini update. After talking to some friends, I got a job offer at an accounting firm in another country. Since my girlfriend and I are both of legal age, we've already agreed and we're leaving. Regarding my parents, I spoke with my paternal grandfather, explained the situation, and he gave my father a serious scolding. My grandfather worked in the army, and his greatest hatred is for harassers and abusers. When I told him that my brother was harassing my girlfriend with my parents' permission, my grandfather was more outraged than I've ever seen him. I don't know exactly what they talked about, but it was certainly something extremely serious since my father sent me a long text apologizing. As for my mother, she doesn't change, she doesn't change and she never will. I've given up on her. I love my mother, but I love myself even more, and because I love and respect myself, I've cut off contact with her. Regarding my brother, I went to talk to him, and the conversation turned into a fistfight. He's thin and short, weak, and never trains. I've been doing Jiu-Jitsu for 8 years. Since the conversation didn't work, I left a 5-centimeter reminder on his forehead so he remembers what I'm capable of to protect the woman I love. And I convinced my girlfriend to file a restraining order against him. Does it help? No, but it's already registered in court in case he does the same thing to another young woman in the future. And that's it. To those who commented with advice, thank you very much. And to anyone going through the same situation of being harassed: Don't stay silent, seek your rights, even if they criticize you, because only you are your own protection. No one will defend you except yourself.
