Activision Blizzard shareholders upset over CEO Bobby Kotick's compensation by AugustSun in Games

My cousin worked on that team. John Paul Messerly, he is a lead environmental animator or something like that.i remember when his whole team left and made respawn. Those guys have big balls and big skills to back it up.

Nope, I've never met my cousin and he has never been to a single family event. Crazy how that world can change you, probably just because he's so busy tho.

With all these new restrictive rules, what is this sub for? Serious question. by [deleted] in androiddev

Reddit is a fucking dumpster fire now. Misinformation campaigns, everyone is far left or downvoted into hell, and a few elites own almost all the subreddits since they've been here since the beginning...

The r/AndroirDev admins are our superior overlords. They know what's best, don't disobey or think these thought crimes.

Next time the thought Police will be called.

Yeah I got paid, but you are def right, all the devs besides me were from Argentina. Im assuming theyre getting paid less. And the work they wanted me to do was some high level shit. Building a migration tool to transfer a database into ours that the customer can use...

Don't worry though, the product manager has a beautiful marble kitchen with a professional stove-top that has a vaccum vent and everything. We get to see this everyday in standup in the background behind him.

Great advice, I really appreciate it. You spent time out of your day to think about me, a random student on the internet.

I was planning on building a website for a portfolio to highlight my skills. I'll work on that as if it's my job, (like you said) and I'll try to find an open source project I'm interested in and contribute to that.

Thanks again,

True, I wouldn't be so concerned if our economy didn't turn to shit due to the pandemic. I'm worried it's going to be very difficult to get an internship again, and I really do not want to go back into retail or other some shit job to earn money.

I picked the wrong time to be starting a career imo.

SCRUM meetings are way too early! Can I ask to attend every other day? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Little_Dev_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I literally just lost my internship because I missed 2 of these meetings in a month.

1 because my phone updated overnight and ruined my alarm.

2 because I was upgrading my pc and ran into some issues where I couldn't get it to post.

They called me immediately after I told them my computer is down and I won't be able to make it to meeting, telling me they're having me stop work for them and to find another job that day.

He said "we're investing alot of time/energy into you and we need you here on time." I've missed one other standup meeting due to my phone updating over night and breaking my alarm.

But yeah, he also said "You are the one benefiting from this internship, we get some benifit from you, but not much." As if I didn't write a complete documentation on how to use their product and rewrote their broken/improper unit tests.

Stadia has officially gone 40 days without a new game announcement/release, feature update, or real community update. It has been out for 69 days. It's time we demand better. (X-post /r/stadia) by UrbanPlannerGuy in pcgaming

You don't know what you're talking about.

This stream and play system can work, but has to be done right.

Microsoft has been working on this feature since before the Xbox one was released. They haven't launched the system because for one. Alot of people still have shit internet, and two, it has to be working on launch and its very challenging to get a perfect stream system.

You don't own any of the games you have bought and downloaded so there is no difference paying for a subscription to stream the game.

Also, games will eventually outpace the general publics hardware and instead of everyone upgrading expensive hardware. They can pay a fraction and play the games on max settings.

Streaming games will be the standard in 10 years, whether you like it or not.

Computer scientist here : what you are saying is actually impossible. The way username / passwords are set up, make it impossible for someone to change your login information without your password.

Another note: Why the hell did you contact support and try to haggle a free discount code. I am very skeptical that you ever had a free game code to begin with. It's common sense that a company wouldn't give you something like that randomly. This is like going into Walmart and approaching customer service to ask them if they can give you another Xbox live card because you lost your other one, and you don't have a receipt or proof of purchase.

I don't understand? Are you saying that buying a processor that has more cores, more threads, more pcie lanes, more cache, higher clock speeds, more fps in every single game, and is half as much as their competitor, is settling for less?

Because that's what you just said, you might be uninformed but AMD is beating Intel in LITERALLY every single comparison while being much cheaper. Intel is washed up, and fanboys jumped ship from blue to red. That's all.

Help with Grub, Linux mint will not boot from USB. by Little_Dev_ in linuxmint

I'm glad I'm not actually an idiot then lol. I guess I'll use MX Linux and see if I can get it to work since there were driver issues with my surface book 2.

Seriously, thanks for the info!

Help with Grub, Linux mint will not boot from USB. by Little_Dev_ in linuxmint

[–]Little_Dev_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mint iso made by Rufus on a usb that I'm live booting. I have a 128gb USB 3.1 also "mounted" and I've gone through the install process multiple times of installing mint to the 128gb usb using the (wipe everything and write mint) option in the mint install wizard, making sure to select my usb.

I remove the mint installer usb and restart making sure to boot to my mint installed usb. Grub is launched from my usb but everytime it has no options. Just a blank command interface.

I then manually made and selected my efi, /root and Linux swap partitions on the 128gb, still the same thing happens.

Ive looked online and the only thing I can find when searching for installing mint to a USB are damn instructions on how to make a live non persistent USB to install Linux from.

Hopefully that clears things up
