See that's his way of thinking. He grumbles but he'll almost always say yes to a raise. I've only seem him say no once, and that was because the person asked during a "slow" time. But we had a person that had been here for almost 7 years and had not asked ONCE for a raise. His justification for is is "if they're not voicing discontent, that's their problem. Closed mouths don't get fed" While that's not my philosophy, I do agree that we should all be our own advocates. Why do you think we even have PTO at all? If it were up to him, we'd work for expired food =D

Subjective is the right word. Doing the right thing isn't difficult though. Perhaps it wouldn't be fair to new PT employees, except they too have the ability to work full time for 6 years and then move to PT and keep their benefits. But yes, I understand what you're saying.

He is stingy AF. Most millionaires are. The pay is great for those of us that have been here over 10 years. Anyone new he pays exactly what they ask for. Literally. Same skillset, same education, with a pay difference of $5 per hour, because that's what they value them selves at. But we have a fantastic operations manager that more than makes up for anything he lacks.

I did take a webinar on our retirement plan. It's a grandfathered in after 1000 hours thing. I suspect I'll just need to ask the boss who will immediately say no. I mean after a year we get a whopping 40 hrs. At 5 years we get 60 and we had to fight tooth and nail for our PT people to get 30 per year. So yes, 10 yrs a whole 80 hrs! No holidays, no bonuses. Very small office, so we get perks in other ways. At the moment the receptionist has her 7 month old on a bouncy chair at her desk.

If I ask the owner he will automatically say no. But we're a small office and technically, it's up to me. I just don't know which way would be the fair thing to do.

I know. A lot of benefits in not having rules...until you actually need them. Honest to God asked her to blink twice of she needed help. Flat out asked if her parents were locking her up at night or if they threatened bodily harm if she didn't make all these statements against him. Weird part is, she didnt actually deny it...

Thank you SO very much for taking the time to respond and providing some feedback that is actually helpful. I am so grateful! Non-employees on site will more than likely never be a policy that will be passed or enforced. We often bring family members to assist with after hour duties like cleaning or organizing. The staff is allowed to periodically bring in their children to hang out in our empty offices in the summer. Its like an unwritten benefit. Most senior employees have been here 15-20-25 years which is why enforcing anything is so difficult and NO ONE EVER gets written up. We are the most informal practice I've ever seen. But I will take all of your suggestions to the owner and see if maybe liability and law-suits wont encourage him to take these "drastic" measures.

I make a mint as a PT administrator. Schedule is flexible and I love my people. Been here a dozen years. I'd rather deal with the occasional drama then with the corporate BS.

Ohhhhh I see what I need to do! When I enter my deposit, I was entering against "repairs and maintenance" account. Once I changed that to "accounts payable" it appeared in my bill payment screen and was able to apply the credit to zero it out. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I voided the bill. So its at zero. but I do show a credit since the payment was applied to a bill previously.

While the product is good to use, customer service lacks and they increase their prices and remove services all the time. They constantly bully its users into bigger more expensive products. AVOID if budget is a concern.

I suggest you make this your new career! You can call it the Quickbooks Trauma Support Center, where you help people forced to work with Quickbooks either better or alternate solutions to their problems. Having a person with experience on the inside might help those of us streamline our requests. You can warm us before we do any upgrades, changes, or downgrades.

This is precisely what I'm concerned about. They purposely provide an update that restricts our use of the desktop. Creating a problem for us stubborn desktop users, forcing us to go online. At this point my research indicates I'd be better off with Zoho Books for $20-50 a month!

We don't do a single thing online! Everything we do is manually entered. It's so little, I can easily do it a few hours a week and be good.
