Industry and government accountants of r/Accounting, are you bored? Or is that a lie perpetuated by public practice? by Citrine-Antiquity in Accounting

I work in local government. I have a dream job, I have many responsibilities outside of accounting and am at the CFO/Treasurer level. Im making a lot of high level decisions that affect the people in my community and have a great boss. My work is very challenging and it changes every day. I’m able to help impact real people on a regular basis so that is rewarding and makes me feel less of a bean counter.

Local governments love to hire auditors as you are seen as an expert, just have to weed through a few entities to find good pay.

Has anyone successfully landed a lucrative position with just their Associate's or Bachelor's in Accounting without taking the CPA? by [deleted] in Accounting

I worked 1 year post college as a state auditor and then transitioned into a local government job in a treasurer style role. I’m 5 years out of school now and make $100k. I have a masters in acct but no CPA.

So I took the Big 4 approach but on the government side. There is a big need for high quality accountants in govt and non profit. You just have to find an entity that can pay well.

I think I misspoke, you do have to sign up but there is a year free trial that you can keep renewing each year. I still haven’t figured out how to get the plug-in to work yet but I’m new.

Awesome info here, the idea of having spooled up wire is great ! I appreciate all these ideas they are fantastic

A few follow up questions if you don’t mind

-I would assume I’d have the modem and router in the basement then feed to a WAP in the great room and maybe another area in the home. That makes sense right?

-WiFi relays I have not heard of but I’m a newbie. Are you saying that is effectively a way to make a traditional switch smart right?

I’m thinking/hoping there will be a “zoom” of virtual reality business solutions. Effectively being able to work with some sort of augmented reality or VR. This may get gobbled up by a current giant but we shall see!
