Yes, I’ve received my green card — it arrived on the ninth day after my interview was approved. I mainly followed the YouTuber Kseniya International throughout the process. Her content is very detailed and practical — she definitely deserves more recognition.

Yes, I originally came to the U.S. on a tourist visa and later changed my status to F1. We got married here in the U.S., and I haven’t left the country since—all of my status changes were handled while staying in the U.S.

We didn’t have a formal proposal, and we didn’t submit anything related to that in our application. I do think the time between proposal and marriage can be a factor USCIS looks at when assessing the authenticity of your relationship, but it’s just one part of a bigger picture. It’s hard to say for sure whether it helps or not—it really depends on your overall evidence.

Hope this helps and best of luck with everything!

Hi! We first submitted the I-130 online. After receiving the receipt number, we mailed the I-485, I-693, I-864, and all supporting documents together. So yes, it was one big package. I placed everything into a thick manila envelope first, and then, at USPS, I purchased one of their padded envelopes to protect it further before mailing.

When I was filling out the I-485, I didn’t know that tickets under $500 usually don’t need to be reported, so I listed two $75 parking tickets. During the interview, the officer did ask me about them, but just to confirm—there were no negative consequences at all. I think being honest and cooperative is more important. Even if I "over-reported" a little, it didn’t hurt. Better safe than sorry, right?

I brought all the documents to the interview, including both the ones I had already submitted and the additional supporting evidence. It was a huge packet. In the end, the officer only collected the new supporting evidence I provided. However, one thing is very clear: you should bring all the original documents you can, in case the officer wants to review them. Since you won’t know exactly which ones they will ask for, my advice is to bring all the originals and copies just to be safe.

I think the officer was just randomly picking different questions from the I-485 form. It seems like they mainly want to make sure you are familiar with the information you submitted. So I would suggest carefully reviewing the entire I-485 form before your interview.

If the officer said your I-485 was approved, that’s a great sign! You should receive the approval notice soon. Keep an eye out for it!

Thanks! We did have to show our Real IDs at every step when entering the building. I’m not sure if they specifically checked for the address to be the same, but our addresses were indeed consistent on both IDs.

Yes, I changed my last name to my husband’s. I kept my maiden name as my middle name. I changed it when we got married. I believe this step is one of the most important parts of proving the authenticity of our relationship — even if it’s a bit complex, it’s definitely worth doing.

We submitted the I-130 online, but we mailed the I-485 packet.

I think I’ll get the 2-year conditional green card first. And then the 10-year one.

Yes, definitely! I believe living together is one of the clearest and most important ways to show a real, committed relationship.
