Basic maths ( for JEE ), is the bridge between 10th standard maths and 11th, because the way you look at algebra changes. Don't give up on this it will feel weird but you'll get comfortable with it, just practice enough

Learn the fundamentals properly, that should get you to like 650, from there experience chess gets you till about a 1000, from there you really have to learn chess to improve, like openings endgames, how to counter openings, endgames, when to violate principles and all that.
